guys can you kindly define the differences of the two? and possibly identify musical tracks with obviously good staging and/or imaging?
thanks!

The sound stage is like the band standing on a platform.... how wide is it, how high is it, how linear is it.
The imaging is the ability for particular sounds to be clear and focussed.... the drummer is a distinct point on the far left, the lead singer is this point just right of middle.
At least, that's what I've always believed.

Soundstage can be defined by height, width and depth of the stage. Height should be as high as possible (headheight)
Width -> edge of the car is good, outside the car is better
Depth -> edge of the windscreen is good, outside on the bonnet is better.
Imaging relates to stereo image. This relates to how focused the image is. As per Stazed.... Can you pinpoint the singer, drums, sax in the corner of the stage. etc etc.
Good imaging - Buy the album - The girl in the other room by Diana Krall. Has an excellent sharp centre image. All songs on the album are very well recorded.
Staging - Sheffield labs test discs. Orchestral recordings are usually good here too.
