ive decided i'll lean towards SQ with my current car, being a sedan it seems like the better choice.
Looking at going for a single 12, smallish box.
It'll run off a single DDM1 id guess, 2 would probably be to much power for 1 SQ sub?

im leaning towards an IDMAX 12
What other subs should i be looking for around the $800 mark?
i still want to retain decent boot room cause i may be looking at airbags so i need space, my current setup
takes up to much boot so id probably be looking at a sealed box around 1.5cu ft.

any suggestions would be good.

you can't have too much power for SQ, it's just called headroom. :)
my setup has 3Kw,
IDmax is a good sub, there are others around, and someone will shortly spout the usual list, but, to narrow the options from the top 10 really comes down to personal taste.
get to some meets and listen to other people's subs, or try the IDMAX and see how you go, if you're unsure, try 2nd hand, if you don't use it much, you should be able to sell it again for close to what you paid for it.

QUOTE (RMA @ Feb 6 2010, 01:22 AM) My only regrets are:
Selling Fudd an amp (for a fraction of the real price) that had been returned by Autobarn Geelong which had been incorrectly used by AB Geelong and turned out to be faulty when Fudd started using it.
Whilst he was given a new amp after it could not be fixed, he never acknowledged any of the assistance given and bitches to this day about it.

i think Marty from FHRX uses the Diamond sub and has recommended me to use that as an alternative to the RE XXX. (which kicks an IDMAX subs ass). the price on the website is $1100 but u should be able to talk him down from that. IMO its worth it, but then again ur not me :D

There are many to check out. Remember though; high quality, deep bass is very dependant on good clean power and a well designed and built enclosure. Some of the better subwoofers around for that budget (or close) in my opinion are:

Diamond TDX12

Treo SSi12
www.treoonline.com

Boston G512

Crossfire XT212

Focal 33W

Hertz HXS300

Lotus SW300

...and regarding the price; well of course we can always be talked down. ;)

IDMAX is a pretty good choice tho...

I reckon you should know what types of sub's characteristic do you like rather than asking people for options...

However, IMHO if you are looking for a REAL SQ sub... meaning no boom boom boom... I reckon you should try Phase Linear Aliante 12" (required 1000watts), Scanspeak 9" (note: only required no more than 250watts), Audio Technology Subwoofer, Velodyne

If you still listen to RnB, Techno, etc then go for Adire Brahma, Eclipse Titanium, Boston G512, Treo SSX and many more...

Just drop your existing woofer into 4 cubes tuned to 30Hz, then turn your sub amps down to match your midbass output.
