Could I expect the 10" of this sub to have faster bass response and yet still have as much volume (given the fact the RMS and excursion are exactly the same as the 12")? I'd be getting a custom box built.
I guess this will always be the real clincher for me, do I really need a 10" to have fast bass response, or will a good 12" (like these oz audio matrix elite's) perform at a decent level.

Entering an SQ comp is about spending countless hours working to pay for a great sub, only to be told you need to spend countless hours tuning so you can sound like you don't have a sub at all.

my oz 12 is tighter than my old 10, but plays lower and louder.
QUOTE (RMA @ Feb 6 2010, 01:22 AM) My only regrets are:
Selling Fudd an amp (for a fraction of the real price) that had been returned by Autobarn Geelong which had been incorrectly used by AB Geelong and turned out to be faulty when Fudd started using it.
Whilst he was given a new amp after it could not be fixed, he never acknowledged any of the assistance given and bitches to this day about it.

How much is the exact RRP for this sub? After reading thru this thread, sounds like mighty IDMAX has its rival with less price as well :D

a custom box aye? 0f what literage/ footage?

im really interested now. i've just bought and installed a audiobarn alum10n sub. steppin down from 2 12" type-r alpines i was worried i wouldnt get as much bass. i made an adaptor plate to step down the 12" hole to a 10" hole. the enclosure is a bit small for the 12 cause of the way i wanted the thing to look andhow it ened up. i was most impressed especially since i landed it cheep!

i hav intentions of buying different subs for a fiddle and i think an OZ matrix 10 will b the next vict.... subject. so what would b the optimum box volume for the matrix 10" or any 10" as a general rule?

Heya,
Just wondering if anyone has any opinions/comments on these subs...
I'm looking at possibly getting oen but wondering how they compare to say IDMAX, IDQ, Type-X, and similar subs....
I understand not many people have heard them, but those who have please leave your comments here!

Cheers.

Cant say ive heard the Oz Audio, but I owned an IDMAX for a while and it is quite simply the best sounding sub ive ever heard. Very musical, very smooth and controlled at subbass frequencies (<80hz) seems to excel most ad under 60hz with very well controlled bass right down to inaudiable levels.

They also go bloody loud.

I have heard a hell of alot of good about the OZ Audios, and I have heard they may be loosely based on the IDMAX design. I read on the Image Dynamics forums that the Oz Audio has the same basket and motor structure as the prototype IDMAX, but when Image Dynamics custom built their own motor strucure and basket, Oz continued to use the old one. Not sure if this is true or not, but they do have some very similar specs and looks in some areas.

I would be very interested in hearing a Matrix sub myself :)

Edit: Oops looks like someone beat me to the IDMAX origin thing :( hehe
