I'm working on another project,
and looking at a single 12" sub in the install,
it needs to be of excellent sound quality, very precise,
but also offer very high output (yeh yeh I know I want the impossible)
I've narrowed it down to three options so far.
I'm looking to spend up to around $700 - $1000 max.
JL 12X6V2 Dual 4 ohm (since thats all they come in)
Boston G5 12" Single 4ohm
Image Dynamics Idmax 12" Dual 2 ohm
I've got 800 W RMS available at 4ohm Via a Soundstream Amp (500 damping factor, 50+ Slew rate).
Not 2 Ohm stable.
the JL Claims it requires 400W RMS For optimal performance and life,
which should work fine in series (8 ohm) and I'd gain a little damping as well which is nice.
Unsure which way I'd go on the other 2. I think they need more power than 400w?
The sub will be mounted within 2ft of my ears, so it is important it's not sitting there coughing and spluttering, (which you normally would not hear in a sedan) However it's in a very small cabin, so output is dramatically compromised. The sub will constantly be played near it's maximum potential.
I'm limited to 25 litres, I can stretch to 35 litres MAXIMUM, and I want to run Sealed only.
what are you guys opinions on these? and what other serious options are there?
thanks.
