i had a 9815 and i hated the display

then i upgraded to a biolight 7998.

quite simply the biolight is the best feature of alpine head units. Nothing on the market comes close to this display. It can be read in ANY condition and is perfect for night driving without distracting the driver with its display.

bass engine pro is also a nice feature :)

yeah. I take bio-lite for granted nowadays, untill i get into friends cars and realise how clear it is. Situations where i think my 9835 is being annoying (ie, direct sunlight) because its a BIT faint....you cant see *anything* on any other decks.

If ultimate SQ is your goal, alpines not the best choice...

has anyone noticed that the eclipse cd7000 in the US has detachable face, aswell as esn security system??? now if only the oz models would get detach face too! - it is the ONLY this stopping me getting an eclipse (and before u say it, alarms wont stop those determined to steal ur gear)

what???

eclipse fijitsu ten has worked out that detachable face is a very good safety feature??

this is something that most people on the forums would love to see happen, well me anyway.

clarion hxd2 and all eclipse should have detachable face.

can we start a partition

G'day, i'm not sure if you're aware but those Eclipse headunits (CD7000-1000) should be in your local Eclipse dealer by now with the same specs (as far as I can tell) as US versions. (CD7000 approx $999). Unfortunately, the CD7000 is the only model in the line up with the detachable face.

Got a 9815, like it a lot. Easy to tweak, pretty solid little unit. Slight annoyance with MP3 playback, no matter what there seems to be noise that isnt there with normal CD's (or when I listen to the MP3's on other players)... But eh, MP3's are only for highway tunes so I dont have to change cd's while driving. I spent much time playing with a 7998r, god it was good. Sooooooooooooooooooo easy to use thanks to the display, you can see straight away what your doing with eq and x-overs.

I'd agree with the 1)7998 2)9835 ranking.

Also agree with the glidetouch. Looked hot in the preview piccies, felt like crap on the units. I played and played and played, and I like buttons....
