Question about amps

Dont know if this is a stupid question. But im trying to decide between a MRV-F345 and 545.
345 is rated at 560W Max. Does that mean i can run the sub at 300W and the front splits at <130W (prob 100W) In the manual it says you can do 300W for sub and 75W for the fronts. So can i change the power goin to the front speakers up to 100W.
And also if i got the 545 where the power config would be 500W for sub and 125W for splits. Does it matter if i run at 300W rms on the 500W?
Thanks

The power going to a set of speakers depends on a few things. Firstly it's important to compare the RMS output of amplifiers (which is what I think you meant). This is what the speakers will be receiving at mostly during music playback. Music isn't played at the same frequencies all the time. It is constantly varying due to different levels of volume on recordings, differing instruments etc. At normal listening levels the speakers will be receiving around 30-40w.
Having a look at the actual amplifiers (and assuming that your sub is a dual 2 or single 4 ohm sub) this is what the MRV-345 the speakers will get around 75wrms each and the sub would receive around 300wrms @ 4ohms. The MRV-545 will deliver around 125wrms to the front speakers and around 500wrms to a sub with chanels 3&4 bridged. Also these power ratings are at 14.4v so I think in a real world application they will be slightly less as I think most cars run somewhere aroun 13.8v depending on the electrical system.
As long as you set your gains correctly you shouldn't have any problems. What gear are you currently running?
Hope this helps

no, you can't change the front-rear bias like you would brake-bias in a race car.
as eluded to above, the specs are merely the most the amp can produce. in the realworld, when you properly tune an amp, you have to ensure the subbass balances nicely with the fronts. you don't want the subbass to dominate and drown out the fronts or vice-versa.
in a way, you never really know how much you're gonna need for the fronts or the sub to achieve this balance. but subject to what speakers/sub you have, these amps probably produce more power than you need anyway.
