Has anyone out there used Focal Plain Chant?

The brochure claims that 'it improves sound quality by '30%' although they don't give any indication of what kind of criteria or scale that they use to measure this improvement.

Just wondering if anyone out there has used this stuff in their car doors or inside their sub boxes.

I'm having my front doors sound deadened soon and when I asked whether they put sound diffuser behind the woofers in the doors he offered me this stuff for $85. He tells me I will definitely hear the difference and it will fill my mid bass and mid range in general.

Is this worth it? Do regular diffuser panels improve the sound coming from the speakers even when the doors are fully sound deadened already?

I hope somebody has used this stuff because I couldnt find anything by searching

i must say i did not hear any improvement when added to my doors (only used 2 pads per side directly behind the speaker). not sure if it's because my system is already kitted to the nines, meaning any improvements i can possibly make tend to be extremely small and often unnoticable.

30% improvement?
Improvments in SQ are quantitavely measurable now?

Ask him if you can place it behind your speakers for a "demo"... see if you can actually hear the difference first.
If he has faith in his product i'm sure he'd let you.

I used acoustic tile from jaycar and noticed a huge improvement - I would suspect it is because there are less reflected waves from the inside of the door. I dont know how much the plain chant is, but some regular sound deadener with acoustic tile over the top does the same thing

Yep, got them in mine. Can't comment on improvement though cos they were put in with the Dynamat Extreme when the speakers went in. I can tell you that the pads, the sd and the mb quarts are better than standard subaru splits!

Actually the dude did offer to let me listen to it with just sound deadener and then again with the plain chant but then he would have to charge me extra for the labour...

In any case I got it added on anyway since I was getting SD for free

I already had SD on the outer skin of my door and I had come back for the inner skin to be done. The plain chant was put in at the same time as the inner skin of SD

They used the whole pack in my install. Four pads behind each 6.5in driver

I must say, I agree with the comments that Juls made in his review of Plain Chant. There was a VERY noticeable increase in mid bass. I get a lot more kick from my eclipse splits than I used to with only SD on the outer skin.

I'm not sure how much the extra SD contributed to this improvement in sound or whether it was the plain chant that made the difference, but I must say I'm a lot happier with the way my car sounds right now. I might even go as far as to say I'm 30% happier :P

I would be very concerned if this was not the case

I'd say the SD on the inner skin which seals all the access holes(making a better enclosure for the woofers) makes the biggest difference to midbass.

I really liked the product.
but it is pretty overkill.

if your deadly serious about SQ its possibly worth a shot.
if your not.. don't bother.

The deflex panels I used(the originals that these products are copied from) made a 17.793% improvement in my sound lol I guess I better rip em out and get the full 30% lol

These products do work but quoting exact % improvements is impossible to quantify. I prefer to say it made my system sound OK ;)

Andy Jones, IASCA Street X SQL is code for "I half ass everything." Basically you are saying you are not loud enough to do SPL, and have no idea what it takes to do Sound Quality. So you meet in the middle with a quiet system that sounds like ass. Good job at being mediocre.
