Well,

Finally my DLS UP36 3 ways have arrived, currently being driven off a jaycar 2x150 (I know I know, just need to get the money so I can get my DLS amps for active front stage).

So, I currently just have the mids sitting facing up on the dash, and the tweeters on the a-pillar facing the opposing head rest (oops, AU Falcon btw). Now I was just going to fibreglass mount them both on the a-pillar facing the opposing head rest, but wanted to know if there were any better options first.

I listen to mainly heavy metal, metallica, slipknot, black sabbath, sevendust, system of a down etc.

At the moment there is no sub, still not sure what I'm going to go with, can't go all out, need to get a house deposit together.

So, ideas?

Front Stage
DLS UP36 - 3 way splits, DLS RA40 Bridged, DLS RA20 (Waiting for active crossover)
Bass
DLS IR12 - Iridium 12" Sub, DLS RA10 Monoblock amp @ 2ohm
Source
Alpine iDA-X001 with 40gb USB Hard Disk (Soon to be iPod Classic 80gb or 160gb)

alot of people find the kick panels to work well for mids and tweeters, but some suffer from bad staging cos of this, and others find that a pillar mounts can be too in your face...

theres no formula for succes, youll just have to whip out the bluetac and try a few different positions, then some different angles...

you can generally achieve very good staging with good imaging through placement and angling, leaving little to none to eq's and time allignment...

once you find the angle you think is good in the right position, FG it all up and enjoy...

some combos to try are obviously the both tweets and mids in the kicks with the woofer in the doors,

or the mids in the doors with the woofers, and tweeters where you want them,

or the new fad seems to be putting the woofers on the floor, it apparantly images like nothing else...

just some ideas, take it as always with a grain of salt...

good luck and enjoy your self..

Well i have experience with quite a few falcons, including my own 2 and also most of the DLS range including a set of UP36's which i looking at in front of me right now.

I found you need to deaden the area behind the UP36 mid since it is not a sealed midrange like the UR or Iridium range.

I would use some foam and bluetac and try them in the kickpanels and on the a-pillars and see how you go. If using pillars i would look at having mids and tweeters firing at opposing headrests.

If you want to have a listen i my falcon has mid in the kicks and tweeter in the A-pillars (i am running IR6.3). Lisa's car has mid and tweeter in the kickpanels (IR8.3), both systems run DLS amps so you can get a listen and look at them also.

My mate has UP36's and we are just in the process of installing mids and tweeters in A-pillars as we found thats where they sound best.

Hope that helps.
