$6k looks reasonable to me thats not bolt on damage like a front clip thats some serious panel beating not smash repairing. slide hammers, copper studs and oxy fun for all. im guessing that there would be 800is for tailgate 2-500 for rear bar plus 16hours roughly in panel work @ $65p/h avg. plus paint and painting time which is normally charged at $80ph avg plus gst plus baking oven hire... etc etc.

Hey Guys,

My partner competed at the last Harry's Diner comp. This was the first time I went to watch him compete at this particular event and frankly I asked him the same question - Why bother? He's running cheap gear and has a bit of a dunger of a car (still to take 2nd) but he is there for fun and to make friends.....which by what i overheard (which wasn't very nice to endure whilst trying to support him) it didn't sound like it was going to happen.

I told him what happened because he has pretty thick skin and will compete again. His brother (who is only 17 and ready to start competing) is seriously considering changing his mind. I am contemplating not going to an event again even as a spectator after the atmosphere that Saturday. Usually after an event I want to compete but certainly not this time. We've competed at Maroochy Car Sound a few times and everyone there is GREAT!!!

Pick up the attitude guys... If you can't say anything nice don't say it at all. The people in the car may not be able to hear you but their supporters can and it's disgusting.

As a supporter I like to go along to talk to people and help where I can for everyone involved but if this is the atmosphere of a few people then i'm not going to bother in future.

Thanks

Ross's Support.

Care to give us some more details about the incident???

Also, keep in mind, unless it was one of the organisers making the comments, we cannot be held accountable for what other competitors say. While we will not condone negative comments being made about other competitors etc, it is a public environment and everyone is gonna sprout their veiws regardless of whether you like it or not. Its unfortunate but its also a part of life.

Contact one of the db drag team and talk to them about it. Hopefully, we can talk to the people involved and make them aware that their negativity isnt appreciated.

I'd also be interested to know more details of this. I don't know of any CAA member that would say things like that... We are all there to help out and have fun :)

As Woody said, we can't be accountable for anything someone from the public says :S

Obviously bringing up a very old thread here. .

But to be honest from the comps i have been to with mcwaters he doesnt seem to have changed. He is the main reason i started to get serious about SPL just from a few annoying comments from him. From then my goal has been to beat mcwaters. .

Correct me if im wrong but has he changed in 5 years?

^ Can't be that hard to beat a spanker like that :)

We used to love going to comps with some Super Cheap Auto Rampage subs we found in a bin, and handing it to spooners hehehe

Certainly not but its hard to fail in a CRX ;)

I couldn't help but laugh having read this thread from front to back.

For the record Team SS snatched first place at Adelaide Autosalon last year from this person. A NW car with 2 15's and less power was a solid DB louder than a walled car with larger amplifiers and two 18's ;)

At the end of the day the easiest way to deal with them is to beat them :)
