The title says it all...im in the stage of planning my next set up and was considering some ID HLCD's to match my ID Max's.

Just looking for some opinions from people that have had experience with them.

From memory, all horns require a fairly comprehensive eq and perhaps some resonance damping on the horn structure itself to sound good, not to mention quite a bit of installation space...

but once setup, sound...well...horn. LOL.

I've built many, many cars using Veritas, ID and USD horns.

If you've got the budget it's an awesome way to go.

sound good when done right, but normal speakers are cheaper and easier to mount, and sound as good.
the only real benefit (I see) of horns is the low power requirements mean you can use pure class A amps for the horns, and only AB for the midbass.

One of the best write ups on pros and cons that I have come across can be found here:

http://www.elitecaraudio.com/article.php?sid=37

I run horns and there are a number of positives for mine, including the pin point front stage and the ability to produce an almost single source stage.
Cons include mounting considerations and the overall stage width that one is able to acheive.
