hey all.

Just wondering if anyone knows someone who could test all my equipment (or could do it themselves) without serious costs to be incurred...

i want to install my stereo stuff into one of my cars but arent relly sure if its worth the hassle cause some part of my system is letting down the rest.

Last time i attepmted to get it all working i nearly threw my thousand dollar head unit down my driveway i got that fustruated...

if you nee to know what stuuf i have just tell me im not scared to reveal what stuff i have, its all safe up in my cupboard anyways :P

yeh shouldn't be to hard to do let me know what gear you ahve got and what exactly you want to test ie just to see if everything power up ok and speakers work fine or are we talking testing the output from amps ect?

Well i just wanted to check if everything works ok but if youre able to check channels power outputs in amps and stuff that would be awesome too... :good:

My equipment list is as follows:
1x Clarion dxz835MP headuunit (was top of the range when i bought it hence it being a thousand bucks when it was new)
1x Audison Srx4 amplifier (i suspect one channel in this one is fried)
1x MTX four channel 200watt amp (cant member this ones model name and its not easy to get at at the moment...)
1x MA Audio Monoblock amp (cant member this ones model number either but its big its bad its silver and it puts out over 1000WRMS in the right configuration)
1x Kicker 12" L7 D4 subwoofer (i think this ones got a blown voice coil it doesn't sound no good no more :( )
2x Fusion Powerplant series 15" subwooofers (got them second hand from a mate who had no use for them for 250 bucks :D haven't installed them into anything yet cant wait to have my stomach pounded by these babies...)
1x pair of pioneer 6 1/2"splits (no model name on these but they are the ones with the sliver bullet shaped bit in the centre of the woofers cones, One woofer is missing thanks to some f***in karama ghetto smurf)
1x pair of Fusion 6 1/2" splits (98% brand new in box no reason these babies arent ready to rock)
1xPair of 3 way Kenwoood 6x9s (almost new speakers worked well when i removed em from the car)
2x pairs of 6x9s (no idea of brand but i wouldnt mind finding out if they work Both came in cars i bought that i havent tried using them)
1x pair of 4inch splts ( not sure of brand but they have crossovers and tweeters)

riiiighto thats all of them... sorry the list is so big but i simply cant bring myself to sell or throw out any of my equipments...

PS: also i am definately no thief anyone who knows me wll enough knows i like to buy stuff, theres a reason i work two jobs so often...)

Oh yeah by the way i dont want to install itinto one car. i actually have three cars lol.

Grab a 9v battery and use it to test all the speakers except the tweeter from the set of splits.

To test put the positve battery terminal on the positive terminal on the speaker and the negative battery terminal on negative speaker terminal. The cone should move outwards (away from the speaker magnet). Then do the same thing but negative battery to postive speaker terminal and positve battery to negative speaker terminal. This time the cone should move inwards (towards the speaker magnet).

If you do this and a speaker doesn't respond then it is blown and will not work.

To test the headunit use a car battery that has sufficient charge. Get the Power and Accesory wire and put them on the positive terminal and put the ground on the negative terminal. It should power up, if not check the fuse. If the fuse appears fien but the HU will still not power up then replace the fuse as it might have a small crack in it that can't be easily seen. If it doesn't power up then its stuff.

Same goes for the amps if you just want to test if they power up properly put wires from remote and power to positvie of a car battery and ground to negative (the wires don't have to be thick like normal amp wires because your just testing if the unit powers up hell even speaker wire will work). Amps should turn on ie green light or whatever indicator they have should turn on. If not check fuses as with HU and replace and if they still don't turn on then they are stuffed.

checking the output power of amps will require a substantial amount of effort see here

Regarding the amp with the blown channel. If it is just a couple of blown FET's then it shouldn't be to hard to repalce these. You would have to post up pics of inside of the amp for an accurate diagnosis to be given.

I would also look into getting a recone kit for the kicker as these are quite decent subs.

Cheers

well your probably in luck, if you had of gotten the newer one you wouldn't have been able to get a recone for it. Do you rekon you could take a couple of pic's just to be sure? Can pm them if you want
