I'm trying to decide what amp i should run some oz audio matrix elite speakers off. Some options are the eclipse XA4000 or a rockford T4004 since i already have a T5001bd. my budget would be between 500-1000. I'm after sound quality more than oomph. Which would be the better amp for these speakers and what other suggestions do people have? It can't be a very long amp though because i have limited space.

there are a few amps in the forsaale section that would be nice.
think there is an Arc, Tru, Boston.
but there aint much room in a mini ;)
QUOTE (RMA @ Feb 6 2010, 01:22 AM) My only regrets are:
Selling Fudd an amp (for a fraction of the real price) that had been returned by Autobarn Geelong which had been incorrectly used by AB Geelong and turned out to be faulty when Fudd started using it.
Whilst he was given a new amp after it could not be fixed, he never acknowledged any of the assistance given and bitches to this day about it.

Might be worth taking a look at the Alpine PDX range. They're very small and powerfull units - they're rated at 150wrms and the report that came with mine says it was bench tested at 174wrms (14.4v).

yeah i know. the boston would be nice but its a really long amp. unless i came up with a different idea for an install. If there are any keen mountain bikers out there i would swap my 2005 avanti hammer for a decent amp. bought the bike last year and hasn't had much use.

oh, surely this US Amps 2 channel will fit

naa but in seriousness, is it a new BMW Mini Coop you own? My next car (end of next year hopefully) will be a Cooper S.

what physical size constraints do you have...?
are you going to be using the 4 channel in bridged stereo, or running active front stage?

yeah i'll be running the front stage active. its a new mini so the boot isn't big. my guess is about 90cm long by 50cm wideand about 70 high. so it will be a tight squeeze cause i still want to have the rear seats

hmmm so you are using the RF for the sub i assume?

So you need room for the RF amp, a 4chnl and a sub?

A high quality, low powered 4 channel amp in bridged mode would be the best way to go about it, but youve chosen to run active

Below is a pic of a mini boot for peoples reference..

Some of the E-audio 4 and 2 channels would do you nicely - though they aren't a commonly mentioned amp

Congrats on deciding on your amp sweep77, just to add to the comment of the PDX amps not being sq orientated is false from my understanding, a quote from Car audio and electronics magazine.

http://www.caraudiomag.com/0607_cae_alpine...ier/index2.html

"Alpine conservatively states the frequency response to be 20Hz to 20kHz, but I measured it to be 5Hz to 32kHz at –1dB, very impressive for a Class D amplifier. In fact, the marketing guys at Alpine are not fond of the Class D moniker due its past limitations on frequency response and sound quality. This amplifier could pass for a really good A/B design, except that it is small and efficient."

Just for anyone who’s interested, the review could be biased but I like the sound of mine.
