Do you really need this explained???

12 - 8 = 4 extra inches of cone. Of course you'll get more doof mate. If you want to control it, then feed it some decent power and set your levels/gains accordingly.

I could flame you for asking such a simple question but I wont :)

What size box is it, what sub, how much power, what car, what are your crossovers set at. Give us a bit more info to work with ;)

Generally there would only be problems if the box is a perfect square. You will get reflections of the bass waves from thje back of the box. What size box is it, what sub, how much power, what car, what are your crossovers set at. Give us a bit more info to work with ;)

yer well it is a perfect square...wat does this do

Actually just disregard what I said before. Standing waves for bass notes occur only at long distances (say 3.5m @100hz) so this wouldn't be the problem. Sorry been a long couple of days studying tax...

what size did you build the box to? To what specs, out of what? Giving members "my 8 inch sounded good wif bein in parcel shelf, but wif my new 12' pioneer iz crap' is not going to get any sort of help...

Remember, a really leaky box, with thin wood, of bad volume, with badly mounted sub powered off a low-power amp is gonna sound crap.

Even if you spent $2500 on a 12" sub, if it's not mounted properly, a $50 8 will sound better
