I have just put my hard earned down for a set of Dynaudio 360's which will be installed into a Cortina I am building up. They will be powered from an Alpine PDX 2.150, later to have a second amp added, running bridged, so ending up with an amp per channel. (I may even end up entering a few comps too.... 8) )

Now, me being the type that is never happy with stock configurations, I want to do some things with the crossovers. Ie. build my own. This is what I have planned...

Solen polypropylene capacitors
Welwyn 6watt low impedance resistors
CFAC (foil) inductors (Or Solen Hepta-litz if I can't get the foil)

So far I am planning on using the recommended crossovers as provided in the Dynaudio datasheets, as ber below.

Attached File  DYN_MD140_2_crossover.png   1.73K   3 downloadsMid

Attached File  DYN_MW170_crossover.png   1.31K   3 downloadsWoofer

I am just wondering if there are any recommended modifications to the crossovers that I should start with. I realise the install itself will require a degree of customisation to the crossovers, but are there any mods that are commonly done? (Ie. lower the crossover point to the tweeter etc.)

Any help would be great.

I found that stock Dyn or other European brand (Eton for example) crossover are quite decent, for 2 way at least.

Yea, I'm pretty sure the Dyn crossovers will be decent. I just can't help myself, I have to play! :)

Why waste your time when you don't even know that you will be unhappy with them? Spend your time getting the install as perfect as possible, then stuff around with the crossovers if you're unhappy down the track. If you invest the time you would spend on those crossovers into the install, I guarantee you will be much better off.

It's going to be a while before the car is ready for the install (ground up rebuild etc) so I am just tossing a few ideas and concepts around.

If you are going to build them "to spec" so to speak, then i would only recommend changing the tweeter crossover.
The midrange and midbass sections arent too bad, but the damn pissy little coil on the tweeter section p's me off.

I would go with the heptalitz coils and solen fast caps (better yet Auricap or Mundorf for the tweeter in the signal path).

So the values specified by Dynaudio are ok? I can get Hovland Musicaps, are they any good?
I can't seem to get the foil inductors I want, so the Solen Hepta-litz are looking like the way to go there.
