I am in the market for new front end and was curious to know if any1 had used both of these splits. I am not planning on competing in SQ, I just want the best sounding speakers for listening to music. (Dance, RnB) I have narrowed it down to the A/D/S 346cs and Alpine Type X because i can get them both for a good price. Any feedback would be Great!

a/d/s have made some of the finest speakers around, never had the chance to listen to them myself but from what i have been told there very nice.

i have listen to the type x and i do like them, not a huge fan but there nice and detailed.
QUOTE (RMA @ Feb 6 2010, 01:22 AM) My only regrets are:
Selling Fudd an amp (for a fraction of the real price) that had been returned by Autobarn Geelong which had been incorrectly used by AB Geelong and turned out to be faulty when Fudd started using it.
Whilst he was given a new amp after it could not be fixed, he never acknowledged any of the assistance given and bitches to this day about it.

i've listened to a/d/s on a demo board...i can't remember which model, most liekly the 2 series, nice smooth midrange and top end

the type x's i quite like, good midbass, but i do find the top end slightly thin

Why.... You going to get them cheaper for me woody?

I heard them both in the Board, From hearing them, i am leaning towards A/D/S becasue they had really good midbass, but the salesman told me he thought the X's had a better tweeter. (very marginally)

how much are the a/d/s 346cs worth these days?

I have heard them (ads) on a board last year and they are quite nice sounding speakers

actually, how much do you quote for your ADS split? what shop did you go?i cannot find any ADS speaker appers in AUS for a long time. i have interested to get one as well. i have heard ADS split from demo board. they are clear, detail. for alpine split, i walk away for a century already. no t warmth, clear. just loud in my opinion.

They sell them at Gold Coast Car Sound at Slacks Creek (Brisbane). They are marked at $995 with a cross through it.

Im not going to quote the price I got, as i am a regular customer. And they tend to give me good deals.

Probably around the $700 mark. At a guess. Dont hold me to it.

Considering you should be getting the Alpines for around $550 - $600, their probably gonna be the better option. At least you know from experience that they will go loud and match your 10 nicely...

Scuby, expect to get those A/D/S for a bit under $700 bud ;)

I have heard both side by side, and I have heard the X's a gazillion times. Use your ears to decide which is best, fact that most people have been choosing the A/D/S's is really beside the point... Slightly brighter sound than the X's which I feel are little muddy in comparison.
