Just wondering if anyone here couyld advise if this sub is any good in the SQ department?
It is going to be used in a fairly low powered system, around 200 watts RMS from an alpine mono.
The sub I have sucks for SQ, and while I save my pennies for an ID Max/ 1000 watt mono combo, Im wondering which low powered 12 inch subs are better for an SQ setup.
Car is a VT Commodore.

The Alpine type S is another option for a nice sounding low power sub.

The JL W0's sound very good for the money, but I wouldn't expect much output from them.

A friend of mine had a pair of 10W0's amd while they sounded nice for the money. Pretty gutless though.

i used to have a jl audio 12w0-4 and it was a great sub for low power systems. the sub went hard and sound quality was fairly good for its money. Any amp around 300wrms would power it great

Yeah, my budget is around $250 for the time being and i'll be shopping second hand, and now since my mono actually puts out 350 watts RMS @ 2Ohms, I'll be looking for a dual 4Ohm Sub

Im not going with the JL anymore, and I'm very interested in a pure SQ sub that can comfortably pump out 300watts all day long.

Any suggestions guys?

I did a search, but found nothing that fits my needs.

I've looked at IDQ's, DD's and Hertz subs but Im not really sure whats the go for Low to Mid Powered SQ.

I dont like the sound of the JL. Just thought I might add that.

The IDQ is an incredible sub though. Very refined. I like it a lot.

I'd be swaying heavilly towards an IDQ if you can find one.

Haven't heard one, but I have heard they sound as good or possibly better then an IDMAX.

I used to own an IDMAX and anything that sounds that good, for that type of money would be very, very tough to beat.

I used to own one of the older model JL W3's amongst other subs and about 3 weeks ago i purchased a 12-W0.......it is silly comparing it to its older brothers the W1, W3, W6 and W7 obviously but for only 125watt rms they actually are impressive you can get some low basslines out of it depending on your set up etc..........but a decided to go with an old favourite and i got the JL 12-W3-V3 2ohm and built a W3 box to spec from the jl website.......you get what you pay for........ instead of a W0 i would recommend buying a W1 which are quite impressive (thats if you havent already purchased the W0 that is) car stereo australia had a review on subs a while ago and they rated the JL W1 as most impressive value for money as the JL W1 rrp's at around $299.........
