Greetings all.

Within the next 2 months I'll be installing some sound deadening into the inner and outer skin in my 97 Barina.
I'll be then speaking to the friendly folks at Styln Car Audio on Nepean Highway to install some lovely Alpine 6.5" X Splits. This will initially be powered from a VDO-Dayton HU (I know, I know, 15W power... need amp, this comes later)
I'll be throwing an Alpine type R sub into the rear (either a 10 or a 12... don't particularily want massive bass, given it's a hatch and I'm not a kick fanatic). This will be powered off a bridged Cadence Q2000 (200WRMS amp).

Now, I'm a bassplayer, and as such, I love my bass... This is to say, ABOVE the almighty kick that I've hated from 12" ported wedge boxes :(.

So, what can any of our rock fanatics in here reccomend as a GOOD collection of CD/songs to trial for a good representation of the speakers, PRIOR to actually splurging on them. I'd like to first hear them in the board with my tracks before giving final go ahead.

I listen to Metallica (Sonically DEAD, the lower frequencies are badly mixed, so let's move on...), Megadeth, Nickelback, Disturbed, Rolling Stones, APC, The Verve Pipe, Machine Head, Motley Crue, Rammstein, Threshold, and some odd stuff that's a lot more acoustic.
So who can reccomend some stuff, whose into the same music, with good SQ style set up, that'll actually open up the speakers to their full potential before I buy 'em?

Thanks!

Well you've already got APC, may aswell throw some Tool into the mix. I find Tool to be one of the best bands for testing and tuning.

Bass player huh...listen to Primus.

Andy Jones, IASCA Street X SQL is code for "I half ass everything." Basically you are saying you are not loud enough to do SPL, and have no idea what it takes to do Sound Quality. So you meet in the middle with a quiet system that sounds like ass. Good job at being mediocre.

apc - 13th step is an excellent album, especially 'the package', 'pet' and 'the noose'
tool - lateralus (ticks & leeches, reflection)
massive attack - blue lines
if you can get ur hands on tori amos cd's 'boys for pele' or 'little earthquakes', or sarah mclachlan - surfacing, both offer excellent recording of ALL frequencies
