Sounds like a good price for 1 since the RRP is $399. I've got an IDQ15 that I've never had the chance to listen to but the IDQ's are a nice SQ sub that alot of people will recommend. I hope that helps.

I don't think you can get the IDQ's at the moment brand new, so the new price is academic (I might be confusing this sub with another, so I apologise if that's the case). $200 in good condition sounds like a good price to me, I paid more than double that for my sub second hand and I don't regret it.
From all reports the IDQ's are very nice SQ subs. A 10" traditionally may respond faster as the cone itself is smaller, but won't play as low. This however is not a blanket ruling by any stretch of the imagination.
I would imagine however that an IDQ in a custom enclosure would sound quite nice.
It really comes down to what YOU think though, see if you can audition it first.

Beautiful sub, fantastic price. If you dont get it, you missed the boat. And for all accounts, these are still available on the market. The IDMAX is getting the facelift.

good price...

as far as 10 being more responsive, and not playing low...

i say, have a play with a 10 and a 15 of the same series in different boxes, and you will change your mind...

bandwagonry is a good guide for nothing...

I DID say that it was not a blanket ruling Charlie. Obviously there are some beautiful 10's out there that will play just as low as a 15, and I resent the 'band wagon' comment. What band wagon are we jumping on exactly?

no band wagon blake, it was a loosley thrown general comment for general use and knowledge...

i believe that any 10 and any 15 of the same series SHOULD be able to be made to play just as responsive and just as low as each other, in the RIGHT box...

i was just saying, logic doesnt dictate reality.

the difference in cone mass between a 10 and a 15 is not enough to make a 15 sloppy and a 10 tight...

generally 15 have bigger coils, power handling and magnets to combat this less responciveness you mentioned...

no malice meant blake :P resntment is uncool man

IDQ10, low, fast, accurate, very small box. IDQ12, low, fast, accurate, weighty, small bos for a 12. IDQ15, lower, fast, accurate, very weighty, very small box for a 15.

So by all accounts, an IDQ plays low, fast and accurate, and fits in a small box? :D

And guys, Inductance determines the 'response' of the woofer, not the size. Size is irrelevant

I say hell yeah it's a good buy, and if you decide not to buy it let me know as I probably will!

:)

Also agree on the 'size doesnt matter' comments.

I've modelled a 12" Rainbow Vanadium and 8" ID8 (considered the ID temporarilly until I can afford the Rainbow - but that IDQ would be a great alternative).

Both were modelled in theoretically optimal enclosures (Qtc of .707 - around 19.5L for Rainbow, 9.5L for ID).

Group Delay and -3dB points on both subwoofers are practically identical.

The ID reaches a highest group delay figure of 4.69 while the Rainbow reaches a peak of 4.7.

Both show a -3dB point at 26.6hz in-car (simulated - not tested).

Who do I complement, Image Dynamics for making such a deep 8, or Rainbow for building such a fast 12?

I guess i'll just give my thumbs up to both :good:

P.s. yes I know simulations aren't always 100% accurate :)

Thanx to all.
I'll try and buy it, I understood those subs were very good for sq, just wanted to double check with the experts here :-)
