Ok just laying it out how I see it at the moment.
Equipment:
Freddy is champ and has agreed to help out with his termlab
A TV would be gold, it is good if we can get a decent sized TV that will show the scores etc. I was thinking of approaching places like retravision, goodguys, harvey norman etc to see if they will sponsor the event in the form of loan a decent TV for the day. In exchange we will display a banner if they want and they will get a mention before the tropheys are given out (I hope tropheys will not be to expensive see down for more details). If anyone works or know people that work in places like these let me know so we can hopefully arange something, if worst comes to worst I will probably end up renting one for the day.
Also we will need a microphone and speaker so that the anouncer can clearly convey instructions and can give a running comentary score wise. I have a friend who is a DJ so this gear is should be covered, depends when he gets back from uni.
Powerpoints will not be a problem at mindil, and maybe a problem at leanyer depending on how many people want to use battery chargers (mindil is a clear winner in this regard) Plus the termlab needs a clean power source otherwise it reads funny.
Structure:
I think it would be best to have 3 classes.
1 = 4 8" subs, 2 10" subs or 1 12" sub.
2 = 4 10" subs, 2 12" subs or 1 15" sub.
3 = 4 12" subs, 2 15" subs upwards.
Any suggestions as to otherways to structure the classes?
Start the Sound Off at 3~4 still undecided on this one, any suggestions as to starting time?
Begin with an introduction as to how the event will be run ie the classes and structure.
Have a trial run, ie people that don't know what frequency to play can run a sine sweep and fredyd will let them know what freq to burp at in the second round. This round we will advise people not to push their systems to hard as playing sweeps is a good way to stress subs and amps not to mention power supplies.
Second round will be the actual competition. People now know their best frequency to play and can let loose hopefully without being silly and damaging their gear. The classes will be run from 1 through to 3. In the event of a tie the competitors will be asked to burp again at the end of the third class.
The winners will then be annouced, they come up and get hopefully a trophey and a prize and have a chance to say a few words if they want.
Prizes:
Tropheys would be good, they will probably not be very big but i will have to see what the prices are like. Also price dependent it would be good to do a 1st 2nd and 3rd in each catagory but in reality there will probably only be a trophey and prize for 1st in each class.
Also I was thinking of approaching places like soundspectrum, carcom, jb hifi, autobahn, supercheap, independent to see if they would like to donate prizes inturn for recognition ie being mentioned during the awards and having the oppertunity to have a banner up.
Industry:
Those that sponsor the event in any way will be asked if they would like to also enter a car. It gives them a chance to display their products and they will get the oppertunity to have a burp as well. Just an all round good oppertunity to promote their gear.
please take the time to make suggestions as i have never organised anythingl like this before and am just playing it by ear, all comments are welcome
cheers

Lindsay you should have a talk to Shieldsy the regional rep for ACT, they seems to be a happening forum and he looks experience in these things. I also remember a soundoff event that held here, I think autobarn hosted, should ask how they go and how they went about it.
I'm still not sure of the location, both have they're cons and pros. God dammit I just toss a coin
.
Trophy and Prizes? Well if I win I really don't need a trophy, anybody else wants a trophy if they win? If we're really hard up for trophies I'm too fussed if don't I have them. Maybe the sponser can donate a prize, like amp or voucher or something. That will do me but to tell you the truth, the reconigition will do me just fine and I be happy without the prize and/or trophy.
The classes seem to fine but then again I really don't know how these things work
. Speaking of which, do we really need to turn on the cars when we compete? How do they do it down south? They're must be a better way to this like wired car to a power point somehow, I seen it done in demos cars. Wouldn't like the having the engine on effect the readouts and all
I don't know but I'm sure they must be better way to do this without turning on our engines.
P.S. I reckon I can get 2 people, maybe 3 but definitely 2 people to join in on the event and then those 2 could call on their mates to come in. Hmmm......we shall see.

its is benificial to use battery chargers between rounds as alternators only charge the battery up to about 85%. I think it would be better if people where allowed to run their engines during the burp to help minimize the voltage drop, voltage drop kills amps.
yeh get as many people as you can involved it wil be a fun day.
I just think tropheys would be cool, but like i said its really price dependent.

Looking outside today
hmmm...we're coiming into the wet season now, we may have to battle another element when it comes to the soundoff day. Oh well we cross that bridge when we come to it.

Well both have there pros and cons and it just happen to be the direct opposite of each other. Leanyer has location and people and Mindal doesn't, Mindal has shade and power and Leanyer doesn't. I suppose if I had to choose the between lesser the two evils I guess Mindal for the benefit of the event but we have to promote it really really well like more then 30 people if we are want to attract sponsers or at least give them more incentive to be in. Half the job is done at the park and who knows how many people will come if we promote there aswell.
Well whatever the location I'll be there with bells and whislte on :clapping: and there I voted sukey bubba
Cheers.
