"staging land"..... It costs $24 a month and is available through "U tunes"....
BTW, I'm in the Pro audio game too... I'm up to level 16, but I can't get past the end level boss "Rear fill". Got any hints on defeating him?

I'm a bit worried about someone in the 'pro audio game' that doesn't know what staging is too....

Now... With staging... Some "audiophiles" may call it myth, but it DOES EXIST....

You shouldnt hear the speakers, they should be invisible, but the sound itself should seem to come from one spot. This is the image.
And a tip for you. T/A is almost useless on Tweeters, and higher end midrange. Use gain (independant L/R works wonders here

I'd disagree there.
TA on tweeters is useful for increasing the depth of a centre image - once you get the levels and EQ right.
I say EQ because any imbalance (more than 0.25dB) will cause some 'steering' of the image - most noticeable when you get the image razor sharp. If you have a blurry centre image (lacks focus) then TA or EQ won't help much.

Basically, intensity differences (source wave doesnt decrease in intensity) dont really exist in the near field, and the brain uses time delay to determine distance and position. The time taken for one ear to receive and process is weighed up against the time taken for the other ear, and an image is projected from there.
However, Tweeters are normally located in the far field, and therefore outside this time delay zone. In the far field, its intensity difference that the brain uses, otherwise known as interaural intensity difference (sp?). Basically, if the tweeters are on different path lengths (as they always are in the car), then the brain will use intensity differences to locate image. If you have a tweeter in the kicks, changing the gain from left to right (or independant EQ might work too - never tried it) will change the intensity of the tweeters relative to each other and allow sharper image.
If your tweeters are on the sails though, as mine are, then its kind of a mixture. TA for near field, Gain for far field. Hard to fix an image, but not impossible.
TA after independant gain adjustment might work to sharpen, never really tried it. But TA instead of, is really swimming against the current. You should be using the aural waves in your favour, not fighting against them.

I have found that making changes of 0.25dB to overall level, or +/- 0.5dB corrections on 1/3oct.EQ will improve (or better shape) the focus of the centre (and outer stage) images.
