G'day guys,

Firstly let me apologise about the sound off. I was F#@ked around and cracked the sh!ts with all the gov crap that they were putting me through, by the time i settled down about it there wasn't much point that i could see considering the closeness to christmas and the weather at the time.

On the bright side I garuntee you guys that there will be a sound off at the start of the dry season ~ late march early april, this one will happen! and i am going to start organising it early in the new year, this gives me plenty of time to get things back on track if i do chuck the sh!ts again at any point :D

On the brighter side, I propose that we have a box building day.

The enclosure that a sub is in can make a huge difference to its overall output and SQ.

So designing the right box for your sub and vehicle can be a great improvement.

We can even design the new box so that it fits into your car better etc.

Ok onto times and place: If people want I can hold it at my place, plenty of room for cars and box construction area and i am more than happy to have you guys there :) the draw back is that i live in howard springs so ~25 min drive for those of you that live in town or cas. As far as times go it would be preferable to do it on a saturday say ~8 till whenever you want to head off (high chance of beers being involved hence the flexible leave time haha). The saturday I can have it on is the 6 or 13th not to sure which one yet will let you know very soon though.

As far as box designing goes i am more than happy to design boxes for you all on bass box pro 6, this software is quite brilliant for box design (very accurate), i have never had a box come out badly!

So if your in then let me as soon as you can :)

Cheers

Lindsay

Im totally up for that. my box with my 15s isnt the best, i want as many DBs as possible out of it, thinking of making the entire boot an enclosure...

nothing wrong with howard sprnigs mate, i wish i could afford to rent 5 acres out there... so much space :D

only a 5 min drive from were i am too *(farrar, palmerston)

c-craft go get a big hairy dog up ya.

excellent ella. I will send you my address via pm.

If you can provided me with the model number of you sub and as many of the T/S parameters that you can find (as well as prefered dimensions, ie max length height width etc) and preferance to sealed or poerted then i can get right along with designing a box in bass box pro.

well i'm bored out of my mind atm. If you can get me a model number for the sub then i can find all the parameters etc.

Ok to confirm the date it will be on the 13 of january, kicking off at 8ish at my place.

As far as getting the MDF goes i usually get mine from the palmo bunnings ~$60 for 2.4m*1.2m of 18mm, if anyone knows where to get it cheaper then let me know! I have a trailer so i am more than happy to go pick up the required amount of wood for everyone.

Now depending on the size of the box you want we will probably on average be able to get 3 boxes out of 2 sheets of MDF.

The liquid nails and screws i can leave for you guys to pick up. (probably need 1-2 tubes of glue and ~50 screws, is box dependent however)

I'll be putting on a BBQ lunch (esky with ice is also taken care off) and i also have a decent sized pool that we can all chill out and drink beer in after our boxes are done.

Definantly keen to get my Supra started though.

Got ya PM man but ill just come out and lend a hand for now.

found a new home for the 15's for now, attatched to the stereo in my shed, spent the day today wiring them down a few ohms (somehow i rekon the 1 ohm they were wored at might make my poor stereo have a haemhorrage) now they are wired both at 8 ohms running off separate channels of my stereo.

O.M.G. they are f***ing loud even in there, the entire complex of sheds was vibraing on half volume with the mega bass set on medium, then a bit later when the rain was coming down hard and i was holed up inside with the door shut i cranked it and turned the bass up FARK it was great!

i wont be doing anything else with them any time soon.

next mission is to see whats wrong with my kicker s12l7, mind if i bring that out for ya to look at? maybe you will have something to test it with.

sorry man but it looks like im going to have to pull out (sorry i know I'm a right bastard).

reason being Saturday is the one day of the week where heaps of jobs are advertised and its first in best served as ive found out on numerous occasions. all the good jobs are usually taken and filled by sat afternoon so im going to be getting up early that morning and spending the day pestering potential employers to convince me they need to give me a job.

Sorry but my money situation is grave now as im getting behind on loan repayments.

Regards. Luke.

sorry guys i wasn't online and must have missed these posts.

Ella I pm'ed you my number before?

Anyways the box building day ended up going ok.

Michael my assistant manager from supercheap built a nice box for his new toyota chaser.

From memory it was ~2 cubes net tuned to 35Hz for my old type x sub that i sold to him a few months ago. Haven't had a chance to listen too it yet but he has discribed it as "very tight and smooth, with a massive low end" the higher subbass frequencies probably lack slightly but this is an inherent trait of the type x woofer, his type x mids should be comfotably drop down to 80Hz to fill the gap, but he will need to deaden and seal his doors proberly to achieve this. The box looked quite shmick and fitted nicley into his boot.

My mate david was building a wicked one. One day just wasn't enough to build it properly. I have a couple of pic's on my phone of it half done. All the internal walls have been cut and screwed and glued onto the base. All it needs are the sides and the back to be screwed and glued in, bit of sanding, bit of fibreglass, splash of paint and carpet and it will be ready to go. He will be running two DD1010's in it (big thanks to freddy for getting those very promptly for him), can't wait till it's done and powered up, with enough power behind it (probably a true 800 watts) i expect it to get ~145dB in his S-coupe.

I built a ported box for my mums mazda 121. Its ~ 1.6 cubes gross tuned to 37Hz for her type s 12". Imo even running of a sh!t amp it is 200% on the old sealed sealed box. The low end is a marginally better but it is just so much more musical and the kick is excpetionally tight.

Then a few other mates came around in the arvo/evening, had a BBQ got smashed and everyone pissed off ~12. So all in all it was a good day :)

In better news me not turning up wasn't for no reason, i scored myself a job :D Now maybe for the next one ill have time and money to come play.

And ive started the luke wants to buy an aristo fund, going to start saving for my goal after finding out just how affordable they really are in the last few days.
