hey

this is my first post on this site

i am currently saving about $1000 for a set of splits alone and was wondering what was available but i want to got something different ie not the usual rockford fosgate, soundstream type. looking at something slightly more exotic. will this buy me something more exotic or should i keep saving. atm i hav pioneer bullets not a bad speaker but i want soooo much more

...amongst others. a place like FHRX studios can provide some auditions and steer you in the right direction. very important to hear these running in a CAR and not on a demo board, to appreciate how they will sound once installed properly.

thanx heaps for the quick response will go to FHRX in the near future to demo the suggested speakers. i want to start getting into some high-end audio my system now is extremely mainstream and on apprentice wages its hard to get the funds but i will slowly upgrade to a nice sounding stereo.
from what ive seen so far this is a great website keep up the good work and i think i'll be around for a while and gain some valuable knowledge

what headunit do u have, u may be able to run active which would allow you to mix'n'match components from different companies.
i would also add oz audio matrix elite and eton adventure splits into the equation too

you want something new and exotic, try the new pionner splits,

havent heard them, but the research and development, and the innovative engineering is of a pretty good standard...

speaking of engineering,

go to polkaudio.com, go to the signature reference 6500's page, and download the white paper,

it will teach you lots about speakers and also, give you an idea of how much effort and time was put into these...

i run the polks myself, and have found them to be the best, and thats trying not to be biased...

the pioneers should be within your price range,

and the polks, although they retail for 1500, go to your local autobarn, i got mine for alot lot less than retail, pm me if you want more info...

A little higher in RRP (but maybe able to fit your price range with some bargaining) the polk audio signature reference 6500

i have them in my car and am very impressed (probably why i bought them) and would recommend you try to have a listen to some.

Rainbow Profi Vanadium 2ways. best ive heard yet. IMO better than the s600's and the boston pro's i actualy have listened to a set of boston Z6's but they were not really setup to well. still would pick the rainbows over them, tho im yet to hear morel's and the dyn's in a proper setup.

i should have taken the oppourtunity whilst at 2006 national finals to have a listen.

atm i hav a clarion DXZ656MP headunit which is a vast improvement on the crappy sony one that died on me

these are 2 of my fave speakers.
the Eaton's are smooth as, just not that loud.
the OZ just rock my world. been running my mids for just over a year, will be running them with the OZ tweeters this year.
every time i hear them im impressed. had a listen to them in another car today (xr8 falc running them of alpine amp and OZ me12 sub) and was fantastic. and they went run in..

ill vouch for the oz as well, heard a couple different sets, and they are also very nice, very very well engineered...

Keep saving, I can assure you it will be worth it!

Another brand to consider is DLS but Shiny Car, Fuddbutter and all other advice given above is good

its all subjective, reality, there is no one brand/model that every single person will like, hense the term 'inderviduals' which we are known as being as are the speakers characteristics themselves.

the other thing... what car, what equipment, who tuned it and so on, failing to put that into an argument you soon realise that you dont have an argument (typing aloud at this stage ) as long as the speakers have a linear response, good quality products supporting them, the end result (i.e. the music which people seem to forget and dwell on the equipment) will be one of a nice sounding stereo system which stages and images.

but we either like the sound of them or we dont, but dont pass judgment on something just cause it isnt your cup of tea, it might be someone elses cup of tea. ulitmately it comes down to the installation and and tuning of the gear of choice the indervidual chooses
