Dynaudio using Alpine Pdx Amps...

Spending alot of time planning the next installation. The two main factors I'm taken into consideration is Cost Vs Sound.
One of the main ideas being thrown around is doing a Dynaudio system and running them off the Alpine Pdx amps. This has alot of advantages when compared to running them off the Tru Technology billet amps. But the offset is, some people have suggested that the Dyns will sound phenomenal using the Tru Tech compared to the Alpine equivalent. This is probably the case but the Tru Tech set-up will be well over double the cost of the alpine set-up
Has anyone had experience with the Dyn/Alpine combination?? Or the Dyn/Tru Tech combination??
Failing that, what are peoples opinions on either combination???
Thanx,
Wood

Dyn & Morel have a very close past so as the Morel distributor I can speak with some degree of sanity.
Personally I would NOT use an Alpine with any Dyn or Morel speaker.
If you like the Asian sound then great go for it, the TT amps have quite a rap for being of good quality albeit at a hefty price.
I would look European or TT (BTW did I mention Audison are European?)
Look at the end of the day, great speakers need a great amp and great amps are not cheep.
Something cheap in the LRx running passive LRx2.9 $899
if its active you want then the LRx 4.1k at $1199 will power those speakers brilliantly

yopu guys are delusional, only amps above 1000 bucks sound good,
and only europeans make good amps....
on a serious note, ive heard nothing but praise about the pdx amps, ive been told they are definitely a step up from v12,
and as i recall, you did very well with v12 amps last year woody,
so, asian amps must suck ay???

Eclipse amps I would say are on par or lower than you Apline base range, they are nothing nasty but I dont see then as anything special either.

You should visit Sinsheim, Germany in April for the Car Audio show, thats where you see serious cars that REALLY sound good, I think Australia is still way behind in many ways due to a lack of serious competition.

Having had a little experience using Alpine PDX amps with Dynaudio speakers I am quite comfortable recomending them as quite a good match for each other.

I'm not being specific because it's all hearsay. it really does depend on the design of the amplifier's output stage as to what type of sound you will get.
The Tripath switching is 600kHz, and most amps have only a 2nd order filter at 100kHz - wether or not this is audible I guess depends on the type and accuracy of filter used.
I'd personally use a good linear amplifier, until the digital ones get below their 1%THD rating.
found the site I was looking for - comparison of different amp (including tri-path).. http://www.dcx2496.fr/en/tclass.htm
use babelfish to translate (it's in french)

Woody im sure if you went to northfield Drew would let you demo the alpine's on some dyns.
i like the alpines, think there a great amp.
just cause an amp is asian dose not make it crap. hell the TT's are the same as the abyss and there asian (ok maybe i should say that, flame war here we come.) and they supposed to sound good.
most of the top competitors in the world use jap HU's, dose that mean the whole system will sound crap?
if you want some good euro amps you cant look past the brax *drool* or as the top cars use, Genisis. such fine fine amps!!
Selling Fudd an amp (for a fraction of the real price) that had been returned by Autobarn Geelong which had been incorrectly used by AB Geelong and turned out to be faulty when Fudd started using it.
Whilst he was given a new amp after it could not be fixed, he never acknowledged any of the assistance given and bitches to this day about it.

That said, unless you are doing back to back comparisons between amps, would it really be that easily to tell?
Woody, or another thought, that is unless you set on Dyns. What about a ID horn set?? Drew seems to have the horn fitting thing well under control??
