I had a JVC 10 strobo.

Even in the right box it wasn't a very good SQ sub, nor was it loud.

Havent heard the kickers or any of the others either. So cant really comment.

Cabling and amps sound good, I know JL make some nice amps, not sure about cadence tho.

You might want to consider some sound deadening, especially in your doors (if this is where the kickers are) If you havent already used it, it should make a fairly large improvement to SQ.

hehe the strobo is mainly for show... i just like watching it :)

and the kickers are in the back panel bit thingies..

HISPL... it may look like a really bad mix but it actually sounds really good for what it is... the one thing i DO need to upgrade is my subs.. >.>

For SQ I'd ditch the 4's move the Kicker splits into the front doors, deaden the crap out of them, put the tweets either in the dash, a pillars or kicks, (just play with angles and locations until you are happy) and go with a single 10 or 12 inch sub, in the right sized sealed box.

With some tuning, you should be able to improve your SQ condsiderably.

not to sound mean here but there is "sounding good" and "sounding good" sure your car might sound like the bees knees to you....but to alot of people on there sounding good is more than just your opinion

i would try to listen to someones car who competes well in CAASQ...use that as a reference.....but for all i know it could sound good

from what i can gather, you are running the 4" up front and two different size subs....i would change this if i were you....try to get the kickers (or any 6 - 6.5" splits) up front and a single sub

but at the end of the day what you have to remember is if your car sounds good to you - that is all that really matters

Check out the QLD section in the CAASQ forum and look for the next SQ meet there, just rock on up, be friendly and check it out. Spectators are always welcome.

Most people are more than happy to let you listen to their cars, and may even listen to yours and offer some tips for improvement.

CAASQ guys are a great bunch of people.

SQ has been defined as "The ability of a system to reproduce sound with the clarity and accuracy of the recording/mastering engineers original intention".

In the case of most "Audiophile" recordings, this is a live performance with exact stage positioning and realistic acoustic qualities of each instrument.

SQ has also been defined as "What makes you happy".

yeah take your pick from the above two definitions.....for competing you are gonna (might) have to compromise a bit for the first one

if you want to know how it works.....check out the CAASQ section and look at the rules, scoresheet, etc.....you could also come to a test and tune if we get one orgainised where a judge will show you how a comp works by basically judging your system

LOL, just saw the votes... I gave you 3 points for your HU and wiring.
Generally speaking you want the main sound at the front (splits) instead of behind you - would you go to a concert and listen to the music with your back towards the stage?
Two completely different subs is a strange move as well. Save some space and improve SQ at the same time and go with one sub.

As already said, try and rock up to a CAASQ comp if you can, its amazing how happy you can be with a setup until you hear something better and get blown away. Its happened to me several times with home audio/home theatre as well as car audio and I expect it will happen again!

ive designed my system so that it sounds better standing right at the back of the car with the back door open... unless thats a bad thing??

but im still open to suggestions... OO by the way, i now have a Cadence UD154H in a rudimentary gigantic ported box :D so its just the 1 15" now..
or if i want to keep my strobo to look at i can have them both going

You need someone to work through your system with you to sort it out.

Try one of the following:

Autobarn Beenleigh

Autobarn Capalaba

Complete Car Sound Enoggera

Northfield Marooka

Car Tunes - Southport

They all have a good name and should be able to put you on track heading the right way.

Its not that your not on track now, its just that you may be on the track facing the wrong way and that light at the end of the tunnel is the head light of an on coming train.

Not all things in the car audio industry are created equal...
Especially equipment and installers.

A bad installer won't blame his tools or his skill, he'll blame the equipment!
