2v to 8v is 6dB more output from the head unit - if you're lucky, you might notice a difference.

It would be a little stronger in the midbass, and perhaps a littel clearer in the highs.

maybe.

Now i dont wonna get into an arguement... lol... but r u 100% certain that it is just because of this difference in voltage. What Alpine deck did u have again?? Just saying that while the voltage may contribute, may come down to quality of internals. just a thought...

I know that when I went from my old model Clarion (2v preout I imagine) to the 9855R I noticed a huge difference without changing any settings/gains. Though it could have just been because the Alpine was in a completely different league and have better internals then the base model Clarion

2v to 8v. being a higher volt output as 8v is a fair bit, can cause amps to clip easier thats bout the main thing i have ever been told bout high volt preouts really

Actually I belive that is the wrong way around, a 2V output is more likely to cause your amp to clip due to the fact that you would have to turn the Gain up more on the amp. 8V being a strong clean signal allows you to have the Gains set lower.

the point being, that running more volts to the amp means you can turn down the gains on the amp, possible lowering the noise level, and keeping the amp in a more optimal operating area... maybe.

if the amp can take it.

the higher voltage effects will only be noticeable when the hu is operating at high volume, eg. at 90% of max volume.

When I went from my pioneer deh7550mp to my alpine iva-d310e I noticed a massive difference in my bass output and knew it was related to the preouts sensitivity on the amp. A quick reajustment of the gains and the problem was fixed.

I dont think the difference between high voltage preouts and low voltage preouts is when the HU is turned up to 90% you notice a difference.
I know that when a HU is rated at X volts preout it doesnt make those numbers whilst playing music, though it is relative with the preout voltages so X=Y for all units, as opposed to if you noticed it more as you turned it up it would be X=Y2

where X is the volume and Y is the preout volts. That wouldnt make sense, and if its the case its a poorly designed headunit.
