I dont understand the different ohm numbers??

Can some one please explain the differences??

What I am looking to do is buy a

Pioneer TS-W2501D2: Dual 2 ohm, 4 Layer, Long Coil (1 ohm x or 4 ohm)

or

Pioneer TS-W2501D4: Dual 4 ohm, 4 Layer, Long Coil (2 ohm x or 8 ohm)

I want more punch and only want to run 1 x sub.

These are the Pioneer Premiers that they advertise on Ebay, Are they the same as you get from Pioneer dealers in Australia or a poor import??

I dont have a powerful amp at the moment so would probably have to get a better amp as well??

If I ran my current amp which sub should I buy??

Is one sub going to work better than the other??

Amp specs are

Coustic 401DB

rated power at 14.4v - 200watts @ 4 ohm

rated power at 14.4v - 400 watts @ 2 ohm

Any help appreciatted..

thankx

this should be moved in the beginner section.

But anyway, get the dual 4ohm, so you wire the sub to 2ohm for a 2ohm on your amp, which will yield the most power from that amp.

Nothing is different about them, there are soo many wiring options, is that so it can cater for practically any amp.

Also don't buy from ebay, also premier are an US model.

Look in common stores such as, repco, JB hifi, Strathfield, Ryda, or anywhere that stocks Pioneer, the subs are actually cheaper than the 306c, and only sell for approx $120-150 or so, which is a bargin, and you get warranty with it.

lets look at the specs:

Amp specs are

Coustic 401DB

rated power at 14.4v - 200watts @ 4 ohm

rated power at 14.4v - 400 watts @ 2 ohm (you want max power to your sub so this is the loading you want the amp to see)

Therefore you need a 2ohm load for a single sub:

Pioneer TS-W2501D4: Dual 4 ohm, 4 Layer, Long Coil configured 2ohm load when d4 setup parallel.

just remember d2 vs d4 there isnt one that sounds better than another its just a choice for you to get the most power out of your amp.

As mentioned before the dual 4ohm would be best suited to your amp when wired in parallel so the amp sees a 2ohm load.

As for ebay you should do a search if your interested in the thoughts of people on this forum. But car audio on ebay is pretty much a no go as they are probably not real for one, and secondly it doesnt help the car audio industry.

How much are you looking to spend on a sub?

I would prefer only a 10 inch sub, just want some space in the boot back.

I am happy to spend $350 - $450 as long as it is a quality sub woofer
