I am definately not going to throw away the Focal's. I want to play around with positioning and see how I go with that, I will try the OZ audio's as well. I am sure if I can get the focals to sound like they did in my van, there will be plenty of people who would take the OZ audio's of my hands.

The OZ's are great speakers :) Won me a trophy or 10
QUOTE (RMA @ Feb 6 2010, 01:22 AM) My only regrets are:
Selling Fudd an amp (for a fraction of the real price) that had been returned by Autobarn Geelong which had been incorrectly used by AB Geelong and turned out to be faulty when Fudd started using it.
Whilst he was given a new amp after it could not be fixed, he never acknowledged any of the assistance given and bitches to this day about it.

Recieved my OZ's yesterday, and installed them last night.
Still undecided on which I prefer, both sets have their pros and cons.
At this stage, I prefer the Focal mid, although I am unsure on the tweeters.
It will take a week or three of playing around to understand which I prefer and then there will be either a set of Focal 165K2Ps or OZ Audio Matrix Elite's in the for sale section.

After you've had a bit of a play with them, let us know your thoughts on each and how they compare :)

I had a play with the speakers all weekend and I have the following to say about each component set.

TWEETER: Focal tweeter was definately clearer, although a little bright bright when it was installed facing me or bouncing it off the windscreen. The OZ was much easier to listen to for a longer time period.

MIDBASS: Focal was once again clearer, but would not play as low as the OZ. The OZ was definately a lovely sounding speaker, although I think I prefer the more vibrant sound of the Focal.

CROSSOVER: The Focal crossover allowed to mid to play a little higher than the OZ, and the tweeter also. Both crossovers have similiar adjustability within the crossover. The OZ was a little bigger, and was all plastic. The Focal is a cast crossover with a plastic cover.

BUILT QUALITY: The Focal has a better build quality, although not by much. The tweeter of the OZ is a little deeper than the Focal, and the magnet of the mid is a little smaller.

OVERALL: Overall, I have to say I prefer the sound of the Focal I think this is what attracted me to them in the first place. Once they are installed correctly they are not too bright or over whelming. OX set was also fantastic although I was not as impressed with the mid range and I found it to be somewhat muddy compared to the Focal. The OZ definately handled the lower frequencies much better than the Focal, as the Focal tends to struggle a little below 100Hz. The Focal tweeter, as most know, is very bright. I found them to work best mounting them on the A Pillar about 3-4 inches up from the dash, aiming at each other. I also had the left tweeter attenuated a little more than the right hand side. The OZ tweeter, as mentioned before is much easier to listen to for extended periods of time with the volume up high. My personal preference is the Focal's, although the OZ's are a brilliant sounding set. I am sure any enthusiast would love either one of these sets.
