Competition season 2007 is down to the last round before the finals. However if you're a beginner don't let that worry you. Beginners and seasoned veterans alike are always welcome to come along to look and listen. The leaderboard is still close as ever and the invitations to the nationals are almost in the mail. The seventh and last event of the 2007 NSW CAASQ Sound Quality Competition season is planned for the 29th of September and will be run in conjunction with an unsanctioned SPL event put on by the staff from Autobarn Green Valley. Therefore it's time to get all your cars sorted, tuned and ready for this last official round for this year.

As mentioned above; in addition to the sound quality round, this event will also have an unsanctioned sound pressure level competition in addition to Aerpro offering awards for best display, best install and its own encouragment award. Registration for the competition starts at 08:00 and judging begins at 10:00 sharp (although AM/ST often starts a little earlier to accomodate sheer numbers). Entry fee is $35 for all classes. The planned order of events for the SQ side of the day are:

* Amateur Street Class
* Amateur Show Class
* Pro Street Class
* Pro Show Class
* Award presentations

As per usual, during the middle of the day there will be a BBQ with both food and drinks and this is provided by the Green Valley rural fire service. A sausage sandwich and drinks are available for a minimal cost.

The important details are:
When: Saturday 29th September, 2007
Where: Autobarn. 193 Wilson Road, Green Valley.
Time: We get there around 07:00 to get eveything all set up. Anytime after that though is fine – finish is usually around 17:00-18:00. We do stay back to chat and mingle though.
Cost: Entry to the sound off is usually $35. Food and drink can also be purchased for a minimal cost.
Security: Thieves and dishonest people are not welcome and for the ones amongst us thinking of coming down to steal something – we’ve been through it before and trust me; security is one aspect NOT overlooked (that is about all we ever say in writing).

Everyone is welcome! The thing to remember is the day is always a lot of fun so please come along, spend time with fellow audio enthusiasts and support our industry. It doesn't matter whether you have never attended, come along and meet everyone - most are quite friendly and don't bite. Judges are also more than happy to help you tune the car before the competition starts.

Sound quality competition judging discs are available for purchase from Audio Discs.com.au and the rules and leaderboard for the 2007 NSW CAASQ Sound Quality Competition can be found here. Autobarns website can be found here. :D

Note; special discounts will also apply to any car audio products ordered from Fhrx Studios on the day.

Looks like I made have made a mixup with the dates...I thought wagga was 29 September.

This might mean I'm in for round 7, and out for Wagga. :(

Marty - what's the latest that I could turn up and still compete? If I can't get the day off, then I could try to get a half day off and come down a bit later.

I think I've missed too many events to have a serious shot at the Am. St leaderboard, so I think it's about time for me to make the jump to pro.

Progress with the new system has been great, and I think it's finally about ready for the move.

This also means that if I can get the day off, I'll also be available for judging if needed.

You might want to fire off an email to Marc about what the latest time would be champ.

However; even if you cannot come down to compete, you're still more than welcome to come down to join us in the 'Team NSW' tent! :D

I have an update - just spoke to my manager and have the 29th Sep, 13th October and 14th October off.

That means, I'll be at Round 7 and I'll be at Wagga... by the time Wagga comes around, the system should be well and truly complete.

Hope to see everyone there! :)

We all know approx. how many competitors are going, but how many of the readers will attend the event to spectate and cheer on their mates? I'm gonna try and get a 1/2 day off work and come down :)

I spectated every event in 2005 without competing. It was fun and got to meet people that I had spoken to on these forums. Why not make it your first event and get the itch for next year to compete. You might also get hooked on the social side of the event and one day get your car in there to complete :)

Q: How do you know if you're too drunk to drive? A: You swerve to miss a tree then realise it's the air freshener hanging from the rear view mirror.

-Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
