Hello All

Just stumbled across the forum and so far i'm impressed.

Just wondering, I have had Eclipse for some time now, however I'm looking at installing Nakamichi 6.5" Splits into my vehicle.

Model: SPS2-650

Has anyone used these speakers or know of the current price?

What is the Nakamichi gear like?

I have not heard of Nakamichi before, so as many opnions as possible would be great.

thank you

MadManz

Don't know of anyone who has Nakamichi splits in their car, but FHRX Studios has a brand new set for sale. Naka make excellent SQ decks, but feature-wise they are very basic. You might be able to demo a set at FHRX.

Heard these splits back to back with a few other popular ones in a good quality demo board setup.

Personally I found they weren't bad, but just seemed a little dull sounding as if something was lacking - nothing offensive though.

Their style of sound was a tad similar to the Alpine Type X in terms of tonality.

At the price point i'd probably best describe them as competent - i.e. they don't really seem to do anything really badly, but they don't really seem to stand out in any area either.

If you could potentially stretch the budget a tad it might be worth considering the Focal 165K2P's. The focals retail at around te $850 mark from memory, but you may be able to get them for a good price if you hunt around. I found them to be a very nicely balanced speaker system.

You're always welcome to come to the shop armed with a pile of CD's. You can audition the Naka splits for yourself. :D

Think Muzzy heard them against Focal, Rainbow, Type-X in our (nearly-done) demo-room. Likewise, drop by and compare... Rgds,

Correct :good:

Both great places with a great range of products and knowledge. If you want to have a listen somewhere (which I'd suggest is a good idea) then I'd have no trouble at all recommending you to check out either FHRX Studios or Precision. :)

This is the reason why we always recommend people visit both us and Precision when auditioning. In doing this you can hear many different brands (because although we do share a select few brands, there are many we don't share). Therefore you get to trial a myriad of high quality brands which will leave you far better equipped when making a decision on speakers. :D

Hey Marty, when auditioning, are they in cars and demoboards as well?

When people come here they usually listen to both. However for auditioning equipment upstairs in the demo room we actually use interchangeable modules. This allows you to hear each component set in exactly the same position (we keep the top component set of each brand we sell here for auditioning). :D

You can sort of see what I mean if you look at the 'about us' page on our website.
