We had a meeting with all Amateur competitors before the show and the decision made by the competitors was to let Riley finish his season in Amateur as he has only just started a traineeship in the industry and has not gained any benefit.

Next season is a different story :D

I don't see how its fair, where someone with close to $10k worth of gear and a full custom boot install can enter the novice class which was probably tuned by the place where he got it all installed, I really don't.

I belive your talking about the 180sx? He doesn't work in the industry and was competing for the first time.

For those that didnt realise, if you win Novice you are automaticly moved up to Amateur the next round.

Riley that I was talking about owns a Carolla with 3-4k worth of gear at most.

Was a good way to finish the season, I think I'm making some good steps forward with the revised Install, I've just got to tune it all properly now. A BIG CONGRATS to Riley, 121 is a huge score I'll have to drop in one arvo and have a listen, and another BIG THANKYOU to Winno, for showing me the basics of Judgeing I look forward to possibly getting more opportunities to do it in the future.

And of course a HUGE THANKS to DAN and everyone else who helps to run these events throughout the year!!!

The cost of quipment doesnt mean it's gonna sound great or terrible, for example up until this comp Riley had been running a set of $200-$250 splits and he consistently used to score within 1-2 points of me and my splits cost $1500 retail, and now he has blown my seasons PB of 115 out of the water with a 121 using a set of reasonably priced type X splits and sub.

That 121 was after the handicap :P ......no not really but i assume that was a tongue in cheek comment? :)

Congrats Riley, looks like an awesome score, not much left to improve, at least in AM now, but looks like a good start for Pro next year.

Please do remember you can't really compare scores from round to round as the judges my choose to mark a little harder through the season and see the overall scores drop although all of you would still be making improvements overall :)

Was good to catch up with a few of you! Gordo... I still can't believe your driving to Wagga!! Will be some interesting tales to tell about the trip i bet... lol

Might have to get back to competing next season if I get my act together haha

Thanks Dan for making that correction.

@Riley, yeah, 'twas TIC. Although, i think that we should enforce the 10 point handicap, maybe bump you down in the leader board :P

@Ash, I agree, was a nice venue, but I think it is better to have the events spread out, at least occasionally, because it caters for a much wider range of spectators, and helps to get interest from all area's of brisbane...

Speaking of which, I think whilst we are in the off-season, we need to get some serious thought happening RE: promotion of CAA/MEA SQ in QLD, and the comps, both SQ and SPL, while in my opinion, yesterday was a much nicer turnout than Rocklea, it could be so much bigger.

I don't want these comp's to become a side-show to Autsalon, Spinfest, Jamboree, etc, etc. Whilst it would help with promotion, I don't think it's necessary, and I don't think it should become 'second rate' like that.

A HUGE thanks to Dan, and everybody behind the scenes who make these work on their end, but it's up to everyone else to make it work on the public end. Everyone got PM'd by Dan to get the word out. We shouldn't NEED that sort of encouragement. I know once that flyer got uploaded, I emailed it to a bunch of my mates remotely interested in car audio, albeit none of them showed up to my knowledge, that's the sort of thing we need to do. Spread the word.

I'm not volunteering, I would if i had any skill with photoshop whatsoever though, to make up flyers and such, but I think that if someone could do that for eeach future comp, it would make publicity that much easier.

I say we all do our part, and make sure the next season is better than this year.

Sorry for the rant, but I'm tired and just kept typing :)

Yeah I know, I don't tend to use them as an overall picture, but more as a case by case indication along with comments as to were I should be concentrating firstly to improve, because for example if HIGHS are always the lowest mark on the sheet then it's probably the best place to be looking for improvements.

My tip would be to make the events more spectator freindly. I showed up on Saturday afternoon to take a look and I saw 3-4 demo cars thar were open and playing music which was cool, but apart from that there were just locked cars randomly scattered around and you wouldnt know which cars were actually competing.

I know there are security concerns about leaving the cars open so that has to be taken into account but the casual observer who might have been at Autobarn and decided to check the comp out would probably wonder what all the fuss was about. I was actually interested in checking some cars out, but even I only stayed for less than 2 minutes because there was nothing to see. Feel free to disagree... :)

Congratulations to Riley for the event win and Luke for the season win :good:

As someone who was attending one of these for the first time I would just like to thank everyone for making me feel welcome and not like an outsider which I was. I was lucky enough to come home with first but now I will be up a class so I have some more work to do and improvements to make.

Overall though, I had a great time and I look forward to attending more of these in the future.

I guess I"m just poopy that I didn't place mainly because of not have a silly fire extinguisher. I suppose it doesn't always come down to cost, but in the instance of a HU I'm pretty sure it would. I'm not exactly sure what the 180 had but I"m sure it had more tuning capabilities than mine. And with all that gear from northfield who's to say he tuned it himself?

Again I'm just bummed I didn't place but I'll be at the next event without a doubt and with improvements made to my system.

Also, I do have to thank all the guys who make these events happen, although I lose haha I still enjoy coming out and getting tips and learning about things. Good work.
