It is time to purchase some quality front splits for my VZ ute (blew stock ones). I have a DD C4 amp and JVC KDDV 7205 head unit. Plan A is to get DLS UP6 Ultimates. One of the local expertssuggested Focal speakers ( idont have the number, sorry). Any thoughts????

it really depends on your tastes
we can suggest any number of speakers, but we cant tell you which ones you will like - only which ones would be worth auditioning
both dls and focal make excellent speakers, with dls being very easy to listen to, much like morel
focal speakers tend to have a more detailed/snappy sound with very good midbass - but some consider their tweeters the weak point, describing them as 'bright', 'harsh' and 'tiresome' to listen to over extended periods of time, or at high volumes
HOWEVER, there are certain installation techniques that focal recommend for their tweeters, which prevent these characteristics coming through (generally if a quality speaker sounds poor, it is due to poor installation)
if you are considering the UP6, then i assume ur budget is around $600-$800?
in this bracket i would look at focal 165k2p, the dls mentioned, boston sl60, digital designs ddw6.5, eton rs160, hertz mlk165, morel elate6, phass m650, alpine type x
all of these are quality products, but they all have a different sound - so you need to go and audition at least a few of these, and then decide which YOU liked best
at the top of MY list would be the focal, hertz and morel - they are all fairly easy brands to audition, and they all have a different sound.
after that, perhaps the eton for a nice smooth sound, or the digital designs for some wicked midbass (though remember u need some good installation - with a fair amount of sound deadener, to get the best performance form the DDs)
