Soon im looking at replacing my alpine 2ch amp with a DDC4a

When i do, im looking at changing to 2 way active.

To start off ill be using my jaycar splits, crossovers controlled by my alpine 9887.

Just like to know what would be a good crossover point to start off with?

I know each car/position is different etc.

Any idea of the passive crossover point?

thanks
Luke

Well, I PM'd Damon about it, and he said he thought it was around 5Khz..

I'm running the mid's LP'd at 1.6kHz@24dB/oct, and the tweeters HP'd at 1.2kHz@24dB/oct and it sounds great to me. excellent midrange and highs.
I am still here lurking.

His exact words were something along the lines of it being so long since he had worked with them, that from his best recollection it was somewhere around there....

As I said, I'm running them at 1.6 for the mid-high, and 1.2 for the tweets. both at 24dB/oct.

Whoa Alex! 1.2khz for tweeters is waaaaaaay low!

I would bring it upto at LEAST 2.5k @ 24db, and work around there. 2k, 2.5k, 3.15k, 4k are all options. I think around 2.5k should be sweet.

1.2 wtf look at the res freq as a general rule the lowest you can cross them over is an octave above the tweets res freq.

try a 4khz@12 slope for starters, i dont think you would want to go any higher.
It proberly depends more on how much volume u flog your system with.............cors
