Hey guys, well, if you have read my ride/install thread you would know what i run, what i am looking at getting, and what needs upgrading.

MY question is this, how much power do you guys actually run to your subs. This is strictly for SQ systems (hence its in the SQ section :P)

If you would like to go on and say what amp, subs, you are more than welcome.

i have oz mids with morel tweets, ran active from eclipse xa4000 at zero gain
my g5 sub is in a sealed box, powered by dd m1a at about 75-85% gain (@ 2ohm)

with sub level control (at headunit) on 6 out of 15

this is for sq comps

i am considering upping my xa4000 gains, but this will mean running the dd at very close to full gain

it really depends on box install ect. but u should be able to get away with like 250-300rms. all depends how u personaly like it. and how loud you want it to go.

1000 watts

even my sub at home has a 1000watt plate amp on it (couldnt find a bigger plate amp - think next time I will just use a PA amp and run speaker cable to the box, then i can get more power to it :))

Currently, i run ~300wrms @ 8 ohms bridged into my (borrowed) sub (DVC 4 ohm) from my Alpine MRV-F545.

Usually, i run ~50wrms @ 4 ohms bridged into my SVC 4 ohm sub, off the same amp.

Ultimate plan is to have the aforementioned borrowed sub (but one that is actually mine :P ) and 1000wrms monoblock @ 2 ohm.

JBL W15Gti hooked up my AudioSystem F2>500 sub is DVC 6ohm so it's wired in parrallel for 3ohm and the amp has available up to 1000rms (estimate). But my gain is only on about 1/4 and my sub level is set to about neg 10 through the HU TA.

About 140W RMS to 2x PHD AF10W (70 each) off a Tru Tech H-1 Hammer at 10ohms.

Gain is pretty low.

Are you asking what we run? Or whats ideal?

You need a lot of power if you want to go really low. Going low relates to SQ in my opinion, so the frequency bandwidth is covered or at least able to be.

I run 1200rms @ 8ohms into a JL13w6v2, the gain is set on minimum, head unit bass level is set on 7 out of 15 to blend well with the mids.

I am going to have 150wrms going to each of my Focal 27v1's rated at 250wrms when i have finished the install. i'm thinking of bumping it up to 300wrms to each sub. we will see how they go when i get them in.

Cheers, Grant

Well at the moment in tossing up between subs. The three in the shortlist are the Focal 33kx, Morel Ultimo and DLS Nobelium 12.

I am wanting to run a two amp system, and the DLS A5 cought me eye. The front chans will be used to power the tweeters, and the sub chan obviously to power the sub.

The problem is, the sub chan "only" puts out 300w at 4ohms, and I am questioning weather this is enough for the Ultimo sub. When I auditioned the Morel it was getting approx 600watts and sounded nice.

Im worried with half that power, it wont sound as good (keeping in mind it has a 5inch VC)

More Power means more power wasted. You dont need huge amounts of power if your subwoofer and your enclosure are very efficient. In fact, its better having less.

Throw the Ultimo into an Infinite Baffle configuration, and you wont need more then around 2-300 W RMS.

I had 500W on the sub before, and it was OK, but with the kW to go - it's just nicer, tighter, more powerful - without being louder, if you know what I mean

i have an Audiosystem F2-500 with gains at around a quarter or less. running Hertz HX250D(450wrms)

8ohms bridged amp claims 460wrms@8ohm (2x230) even then i don't have the sub level all the way up(9-10 of 15). u definitely need power. don't need heaps. running off a 4channel that made about 2x150wrms @4ohm it made the sub plenty loud enough but didn't sound very nice. it was a loaner amp so i didn't expect much.
