Tommei, can I play devils advocate and suggest you really do look at new head unit??? Modern head units give so much for so little.... I know its not your orriginal plan. But you can always put the new H/U in the glove box or hide it and control it from the remote...
Just a thought. As essentially "good hi-end SQ" begins at the source.

I really wanted to run a nice double DIN touchscreen. I can slot it right under my factory head unit. Although I will lose all the factory features as I will have to run different wiring, which is a bit of a pity. lol personally I still value the car more than all this audio business :P so I think I will still stick with my original plan. But yes, I do agree with you, sound processors are one of those things where its not necessary if you have your system set up right with a good head unit in the first place.

Take a look at the ARC Audio SRi.
It allows speaker to RCA for your factory unit with up to 6 inputs and outputs, it also has separate RCA Aux inputs and an external remote controller for Aux volume and Aux source select.
It's about half (or less) the price of a full processor.
It's super clean and line drives up to 9volts output.

A great alternative that does what you need.

Thanks, will look into that one. A quick look reveals that its around my budget for a processor too :)

I was actually looking at something below the 400 dollar range too, like the JL Cleansweep, dont know if that will be sufficient but I think it will be enough for the build I am doing as Im not a serious SQ competitor, just want good high end SQ.

Thanks for the replies guys. Wow, that sounds great. Seeing as Im not that much of a fan of FM transmitters, an AUX input will be satisfactory! But how does it work? Do you just plug your MP3 into the processor and it will become the control source? What happens to the head unit, does it just turn into a main power source instead?

Also, I have an Xtant 5 band parametric equaliser. Its pretty old school. Im presuming it wont be able to beat the capabilities of the likes of the processors mentioned above?
