About Me
This was my industry waaaay back in the 1900's... I specialized in alarms, keeping the factory use/design, wiring competition vehicles... and drinking beer. I was on the team which built the Alpine truck, twice ('89 & '90).
Primarily, there were two of us on the build-team. He was a craftsman with woodwork. He loved it! I loathe it... I was the wiring, customizing and OCD detail oriented guy. Then there was the a guy which handled the sound quality, adjusting & tuning of the system. He was QUITE well know for it back then. People would stand in line to have him adjust their car the night before the comps. Another guy was great with mechanics, engine mods, metal work and some motorization. Another guy or two, here & there, as needed and we used a professional upholstery guy from a local upholstery shop who was quite talented, too. Those were fun times...
I particularly like installs in which the car is still completely usable, as designed, and it's not obvious any major work has taken place; install which maintains the factory design. I don't mind upgraded materials, change in the shape of trunks or speaker locations and the like. I just prefer the spare tire is still in the car with usable boot-space, there is still plenty of leg room, etc. If a car can keep all of these elements and still pull-off a nice sound, that is what is impressive to me.
