Yep, Centrafuse is great, I've been using it since inception...onto version 2.1 now, and version 3 is due within next few months - something 3-9 months I would guess.

Make sure you have a decent laptop/computer to drive it, smaller Via epias et al will struggle with the frontend.

I could advise Core-2-Duo based setups, and they're cheap enough nowadays.

Those of you using Centrafuse and saying it is so fantastic and you wouldn't use anything else, have you actually used anything else to compare it to? I am currently, after a few years gap, building another car pc and have got to the frontend stage and am unsure what the go is now. I used to use frodoplayer and destinator 3, which both worked great.

Now I just can't decide on a frontend.

i have used most that are available. 2nd to centrafuse, frodo is my favourite.
actually, other that centrafuse it is tempting to just use windows with out a frontend.

but centrafuse with the GPS maps is lightyears ahead of the rest.

Yes, of course, tried everything else.

Btw, the new CF3.0 is now available, visit fluxmedia.net for a 30-day trial download.

I've recently installed it, and it's even better now than before, with MS TTS support, et al. Nice going, FluxMedia, and thanx for making skinning so much easier on this new release!

I agree. Centrafuse is a much more refined product than most other car PC front ends. It simply works and most users won't need to fiddle with the settings too much, unlike the open-source front ends (which I initially used and still like).

Btw, this is my first post here. Hi :D Here's a link to my worklog on mp3car.com: http://www.mp3car.co...-australia.html

mythTV is good too - the latest version has all sorts of extras, i.e. all the previous 'plugins' are now included in the build.

only problem I had with 99% of front ends, none of them seem to cater (properly) for playing a CD.

Welcome MeeM, I'm "the_prawn" on mp3car. Got a radio yet? My plans have stalled due to imminent baby arrival and associated cost cutting measures...

Im using Centrafuse 3 . And have been for quite some time (well since the trials came out) I find it to be a very good program. I'm totally - wholeheartedly satisfied with it.
If you buy a new GM Holden and drive it into a wall, do you go back to Holden for a WARRANTY ? So why do they try it with a burnt woofer ?

Some say if a car/install was a turd, if you mould it and shape it into something great. They say its still a turd. I must be a turd polisher then!!!

Is anyone from Canberra using it, if so, how are the maps around the new parts of gungahlin? (franklin, forde, harrison etc)
