All you guys raving about the G5... is it an awesome SQ sub aswell or just a SPL monster??
I've got a Focal 1.800 and I'm currently trying to figure out a decent 12" sub for it to run, but purely for an SQ system.

Theres heaps of good SQ orientated subs to consider. We are raving about the G5 in this thread because hes asking for a direct comparison of two, and asking what to go for.

Depending on your budget, you should be looking at:
Morel Ultimo
Focal 33KX
Diamond HP12
IDMAX 12
Boston G5
and theres probably a few more that have slipped my mind at the moment...

Duckboy: IMO the G5 is more for SQ - it goes loud with some power behind it but pretty much any good sub will in the right box. The Boston SPG555 is more impressive for SPL apparently. The reason we're "raving" about them is like mad89 said - the thread was started by a poster asking for a direct comparison between the G5 and 2 G2's.
Have a listen to a G5 if you can. I think it would go well with your Focal amp but of course there are others out there.

Well they had two G5's for me but sold them to install in a camry! A CAMRY for god sakes!

So whats next? second best? cant wait for g3

Yep i need to go listen to some quality subs, time to scour Melbourne for Boston gear!

I'm used to "only" Alpine type S and type R so i suspect i may be in for a pleasant surprise...
