Anyone heard this? Ive now heard it from too many places but in and out of the industry and including Distributors that sell to em. Looks like they get rid of what quality they had left and are just a shell.
Shares are down to 10c on the stock exchange and word is they are hunting hard for someone to prop them up. Ive been into a few stores up here and they are bare. very little stock anyware, no customers and most staff have only been there a short while. All the long term staff have left now.
Went from being so big to this. its sad really.

yers i agree i went to a strathfield car radio in vic last weekend and i noticed they were very bare in the car audio department all cheap **** left with a few mtx bits and the odd kicker woofer.Funny thing is they have moved into pioneer gear and had the latest headunits splits and subs amps .. look out for bargains soon i think.

I have also noticed the stores are often low on floor stock, however, I thought this was due to the 'sale' that they just had for end of financial year. They are undergoing a lot of stiff competition from JB HiFi however...

can;t say I'm surprised - I have walked into and out of my local Strathfield store 6 times in the last few months - I've gone in ready to spend cash each time and stood there for over 5 minutes waiting for service then walked out while the staff did.. well, I dunno what they were doing!

Only 5 minutes....
In the past I have waited up to 45minutes (yes, I am patient) and left because I never got served
. This had occured on more than one occasion and more than one store.
Although I can't say this only happens at Strathfield stores, it happens to me at many other stores too.
Please no Strathfield bashing though... I was just expressing what had happened to me on a few isolated incidents.

i have noticed that the quality of there gear they sell has dramaticly reduced.
when they started they were selling good quality gear like Soundstreem and the like, but now all there gear seems to be second rate, and the good quality gear like MTX they only sell the lower end stuff and dont want to get the good stuff in for u.
i think they should have stayed they way they were and not drop the quality and price of the gear so they can sell more.
but that is my opinon.

Why on earth would anyone wait 45mins for service at JB??
Go down the road to a specialist, I guarantee he'll match their price!

This was on a tuesday at 10am.
The guy served 2 customers that came AFTER ME before he got to me.
Fine I'm only 19, but I waited around just to say to him "you know, in my wallet is $1500 cash, I was going to buy a JL 1000/1 to power my W7, but since you kept me waiting this long, you've cost me $20 in wages. I just wanted to show you that you lost not only a sale today but also a customer, a big one."
I showed him my wallet and walked out.
Simple. I had to gain some satisfaction from it...

JB is s**t ! specialists are gods ! don't get this sub, get a DD ! you're as consistant as you are predictable, phil.
at least the one thing we DONT do at JB is put down the specialists. can't vouch for for every single salesperson but that's the hard line from head office and it's livin' on here.

back on topic, from my mates across the shores at SCR..... the ship isn't about to go belly up.
you need to appreciate that car sound is only a part of strathfield's business. they do great guns in mobile phones for argument's sake.... which for example at JB we don't do at all. sure, the range has gone up and down, but it's about to go up again. yes, they've just started selling pioneer. good luck to them. competition is good for everyone.
and for the millionth time...... the warehouses (or anyone else for that matter) will NEVER carry every product from every product line. it costs too much money. everyone aims to have a representative range on board though. if you want something particular and the shop carries that brand, they can get it for you, be it JB, SCR, HiFi Supermarket, any given specialist, whatever.
power ultimately lies with the consumer. whatever you've just walked into, if you don't get what you want, turn heel and leave. fast.

i work at a largish market share independant, and i fully welcome competition from straithfeild and jb, its great for customers and the industry ...
only think i will say, is i hate sales people who dont put their money where the mouth is ... yeah buy this, buy that ... and then you ask what they use ... and they got nothing ...
respect to all hard working chain store folk who got the balls to put their money in their mouth ... to those who dont and profess to being gods ... you mother to ya !!!

A report published in a Sydney paper that was handed to me by a leading wholesaler said that SCR has lost its revinue base, was opperating on three different formats throughout Australia and was virtually bust as a company.
If you talk to the people who know they say the management "rats" are jumping ship and its not long to go.
Oh well, time will tell, but it makes for an interesting drama to watch unfold or is that fold up ?

Don't you think its a little unprofessional for you to be saying this?
Or am I just overreacting because you (webaudiodirect) had my money for over 3 months, without me recieving anything and it took a month after I asked before I recieved a refund?

tsk tsk tsk Bassaholic. Growing very tired.
Let me set the record straight right now. Phil Kent is not associated in Web Audio Direct in any way other than as a supplier.
I also don't see how your comments are warranted or justified in this discussion what so ever. Truth be known, you're just annoyed and using every opportunity to fulfill your threat of "putting down" web audio direct unless we upgraded your order which was far from reasonable. This was due to a delayed order that was out of web audio direct's hands as you know and has been fully explained to you.
I'm closing this thread, as there is far too much SCR and chain store bashing going on.
