In order to produce an even higher performance, Morel has created the Hybrid, a 2-way component system. The new Hybrid drive unit, manufactured in compact and slim dimensions, is a magnetic system combining two types of magnets, neodymium and ferrite, to create a motor of tremendous power. These features offer additional speaker ability with extraordinary sound efficiency. The unit is rear vented and incorporates a C.A.R.( (Controlled Acoustic Resistance) filter that controls the cone movement allowing for air circulation through the venting to cool the voice coil. To reduce cone break-up distortion, even at high levels, Morel engineers have used a large Hexatech aluminium voice coil to support large areas of the membrane. The membrane is made of a single component integrating the center mid-range radiating dome with the bass cone, producing extraordinarily clear and detailed sound and wider dispersions. The tweeter is the MT-2 neodymium soft dome, hand coated with "Acuflex" special coating for a smoother linear frequency response. The MT-2 has a large 28mm (11/8") Hexatech aluminium, is ferrofluid cooled. The crossover filter is constructed of high-quality components and has direct hard wiring for high power handling and lower distortion. The output terminals are gold-plated screw types, with extra tweeter level control.
