Many people think that the IASCA judging system as it currently stands is far too cumbersome, making it hard to implement on a regular basis (Is this why IASCA is currently in decline???).
The alternative, which has become more popular over the last 3 years, is that show promotors are using their own judging systems (and judges), which are often far to simple to be truely effective, and offer no judging synergies from event to event.
Example: this is the "Judging guidline" from the recent Adrealin Metal show in Sydney.
"i.c.e. judging criteria
1. Overall appearance of the motor vehicle or component modification external or internal. What are the first impressions of the vehicle when approached?
2. Quality of workmanship, that is the overall sound system integration, visual appeal and uniformity of detailing of the whole system.
3. Attention to detail originality and innovative styling and the use of new materials and technologies for the sound system installation.
4. The extent to which the vehicle has been detailed that is the interior, boot and any areas associated with the sound system installation.
The above 4 items will be awarded a total out of 40 points
i.c.e. sound quality
Vocal track - this item will be awarded a total out of 20 points
Rock track - this item will be awarded a total out of 20 points
Dance track - this item will be awarded a total out of 20 points"
Surely a balance must be found..... Judging MUST be more accurate than what is described above, yet must still be simple enough to implement in a variety of locations.
Where do you stand on this issue???
Matt.
