Full Version: WHY NO SQ EVENT @ BRISBANE AUTO SALON..
Mobile Electronics Australia > Mobile Electronics Discussion > Sound Quality Discussion
XHELL
I have purposely built my car for this event, have I wasted my time - looks that way. I just don't get it, if no event can be organised for such a big exhibition, what chance have we got for minor events......... Not happy, oh, and you'll see some decent numbers at the DB Drag cos Strathfield are using the old mic's.... If there's no SQ event, I don't see the point in even attending the show full stop...

Hi XHELL,

Sorry about the lack of SQ event at Auto Salon in Brisbane but we haven't had ANY this year because IASCA has folded it's operations.

I have had some individual states show a flicker of interest towards organising such events but considering our company has to spend thousands of dollars hiring, setting up, insuring, and securing each venue we have decided not to hold 'questionable' events that aren;t fully IASCA supported nationally.

When IASCA or some other form of Australia wide event series launches I promise I will put Auto Salon's full support behind it.

Hey XHELL,

As most people know i am an SPL freak, but i must say i find SQ comps most disinteresting. I understand from the competitors side of things, and i am dissappointed for you guys in that regard. However, when it comes to spectatable events and entertainment for showgoers.. other than the presentation of the nice systems, the actual SQ competition process is quite boring!
You must at least agree with me in that regard?? That is why i feel support for it has declined over the years and dB Drag has taken the precident in an extremely large fashion. The reasons for organisations such as Strathfield, and Northfield in QLD, to hold such events that cost them time and money is to increase their own company's exposure to the public. When SQ comps dont attract much public attention, there is no real benefit for the supporting organisation, hence why they have ceased to hold such events...
What i find impressive with cars such as yours, is when they equip their vehicle to sound awesome clarity wise, however also able to re-gear and compete in SPL comps as well. There are some guys up here who do excellent in both facets.
How bout giving that a try??

AJ.

Hmmm, you'll never see my car lining up in DB drag, why cos I'm on the other side of the scale, I like SQ. I would not have had such an elaborate system (install) if I knew SQ would have died so quickly. I have decided to go to the BAS (cos the GF wants to go), and I wanna see a friend of mine kick some butt. I should just enter the show just for the sake of it.

Damon, how much is it gunna cost this year?

Hi XHELL,

So long as you're car is a late-model modified cars (built post-1986) then I'd be glad to see your car at the show!

Entry fee is $80 and you can enter via www.autosalon.org

Damon,
I know this post is a little too late as this forum closes shortly, but i am hoping that you still see this..
Just a small question regarding the BAS dB Drag, in the super street 3-4 class, am I
allowed to use windscreen straps or not ??
I have checked the rules, and it isn't quite clear on this topic....

thanks.

AJ.
