audison VRx line has become the car hi-end world reference in a few years thanks to the extraordinary versatility insured by its Open Deck Construction and to its superior sound quality. To own a system with one or more VRx amplifiers means to count on faithful electronic assistants which filter, process, amend response, realign phase. “VRx Sound” is what results from this, with its mix of tone balance, power and feeling that have gone down in car stereo history.

Sound, Performances, Control: this perfectly synthesizes the features of audison VRx project, which expresses itself at best in the new “.2” series. audison’s designers could have chosen digital technology, gaining time and money; however, their research of the utmost sound performances didn’t allow them to accept compromises, i.e. the current quality of A/D conversion technology for consumer applications. The new VRx.2 represent, therefore, state-of-the-art signal analogue control.

Renewing such a successful product like VRx is was not easy for Emidio Vagnoni and his engineering staff. The basic project (that already belonged to the most cutting-edge and refined ones in the world) is unchanged but every single model was subjected to careful optimisation in terms of sound quality, performances, versatility, reliability.

It is actually hard to distinguish the electronics of a VRx.2 from the one of the previous release. If you pay utmost attention, you’ll see that the very good TO 247 Sanken transistors are now used in the whole line; audison’s designers, however, especially worked on printed circuit board layout, components choice and polarisations.

The mainboard was completely redesigned in order to use as few operational amplifiers (OP-AMP’s) along the signal path as possible and, thus, to prevent audio disturbances and intermodulation from affecting signal path itself. All OP-AMP’s were replaced by higher sound quality components, the best in the world. Feedback factor decreased from 33.7 to 10dB in order to further improve sound quality. At the same time, control capacity in the lows was perfected by increasing slew rate from 8 to 20V/ìS and bandwidth from 70 to 150kHz. Transistors biasing was further pushed to A Class, anyway keeping consumption at acceptable values. Power supply was optimised, too; especially, PWM control is more stable in order to get excellently fast transient response even with 12V power supply voltage. Power given at low loads increased consistently, up to 10-15% at 2 W and to 20-30% at 1 W. Total efficiency is 20-30% higher: simply exceptional!
audison’s designers also analysed and optimised production and tests, in order to further improve reliability.
Long, demanding listening tests were carried out before homologating every single modification.

Built-in control modules (standard functions) were totally redesigned and they could not be assembled into the previous VRx amplifiers. The previous optional Extensions, on the contrary, are compatible with VRx.2.

The result is better sound, more detailed at any frequencies, higher dynamic, perfect staging, softer tone colour on the mids and highs. Especially, it seems you have inexhaustible dynamics available, very similar to the one insured by audison mythical Thesis amplifiers.

VRx.2 series consists of 6 models that can meet any hi-end amplification demands. The powerful mono amplifier, VRx 1.500.2, the classical stereo ones, VRx 2.150.2, 2.250.2, 2.400.2, and the versatile multi-channel models, VRx 4.300.2 and VRx 6.420.2, 4 and 6 channel amplifiers respectively. Their design complies with audison new “family feeling”: VRx.2 are characterised by the elegant, aluminium blue chassis with its exclusive surface treatment called ISS (Increasing Surface System). This special paint contains aluminium micro-granules that increase thermal dissipation and generate turbulence when air passes, hindering the flux of hot air that normally occurs on heat sinks with smooth finish. The central strip that protects standard controls and Extensions is now of aluminium; its hi-tech look will astonish enthusiasts the world over.

All models are available also in the EX Exclusive release, characterised by the elegant, hand-finished “Chrome Shadow” chassis, with wooden central strip, and by elegant gold-plated parts (logo frame, screws, front and rear plates).
VRx EX.2 will be supplied with all compatible modules already built-in (see “VRx EX.2 Built-in Extensions” table below).
