Okay guys, I'm still looking for more feedback concerning Schneider amps.

Can anyone give their opinion regarding whether a Shneider 4x50 is going to be better or worse sound quality wise than a Jaycar 4x50.

Thanks in advance,

mark

Does D=better?

i've used neither so can't accurately comment.

but look at the features and the specs, build quality, and audition both to help decide. for features, probably most important are the xovers: fixed vs variable, LP/HP on all channels, and do they suit your application. bass boots is not what i call a feature coz it's unnecessary.

both are budget amps, and IMHO, schneider probably has a better reputation than the little jaycar. but hey, i haven't researched these amps much before.

what will you be using it for (ie: what speakers/sub combo)?

Thanks for that Zumniga :p , very creative.

Shiny, basically I'm considering buying Provo's amp. It will be used to run fronts (6 1/2" rated 150 rms) and subs (2x 8ohmJL12W0s) until I get a sub amp. Then I'll either bridge it for the fronts or run both my fronts and rears off it.

I've also been contemplating whether to amp my rears (at the moment JBL 6x9's) and high pass them using the amp's xover or to just keep running them off the HU and using a passive xover to high pass them (eg. like what you recommended to someone else). Once I get an amp I'll be able to play around.

ok, cool.

well, i think the jaycar has suitable xovers for any of those plans, not sure on the schneider.

for no good reason, i'd be favouring the schneider. maybe it's just 'cosmetics'.

either way, they are still a budget amp. SQ will be ok. probably more the reliability, quality of xovers, and real-life power. and this i don't know.

i wouldn't expect either to run a couple 12" subbies too well....loudly. so it's good to hear you'll be planning a new subamp in the future.

good luck

I dont think the speakers would be 150RMS, i think that is a peak rating, my focal splits im looking at are like 50RMS i think.....

The printed ratings on the box were 300max and 150rms nominal. I have my doubts whether they could handle that much power especially at lower frequecies and since they're quite sensitive (96dB).

End of the day they sounded good to me and I get a three year warranty.

By the way they are Lanzar DX6.1 splits (around $300). I know Focal has a good name so I don't know how they compare.

Hi I my self have had a Jaycar 4X50 amp for the past 3 years. When I first got it it was used to run a pair of kenwood 7X10's and a 12" Kenwood comp sub. and to be honest it performed great. ran the sub well not fatastic but well. Now I use it to run my Alpine splits and Alpine 6X9's and I am very hapy with the way it's going. Just my 2c.
