Full Version: Morel Bassmaster 9DC SQ sub and Morel 10inch

What do you guys think about the 9DC as an SQ sub? Its a relative bargain and convenient (don't need to go and make a box and buy a sub) but I'm wondering if it would fit into the rest of my system (see sig.) Granted that anything is better than my current 6x9's, I'm just wondering if I would not be doing justice to the current front stage set up.

I'm looking for an SQ sub that can punch out nice tight bass when required... u know like jazz pieces with double bass solos etc that can blend well in with the Dotech 6's. I listen to mostly jazz, blues, instrumental, pop and rock.

Any thoughts/experiences would be appreciated!

Oh... and I have already followed the discussion when this was on the auction site. Was exactly is this back for sale anyway? I thought someone purchased it?
It's currently being sold again on the clearance site!

And any thoughts/experience on the Morel 10inch woofer?

i don't know anyone that may have auditioned these subs except the distributor himself, phil kent.

so maybe email him (RM audio website link in 'links' section) for his thoughts.

If it's like the rest of the Morel equipment, then chances are it's a very nice SQ unit however, i wouldn't expect it to be "loud and low" in a large car... it's only a 10".... chances are much nicer sound than the 6x9's
But, i'd do what Shiny says

Thats what I figured too Ubugger (??).. in fact its a 9inch with dual voice coils (both 3inch) I think. But my boot aint' too big (97+prelude).
Thing is... I was originally considering something like a hertz Air Mille 10 or 12 inch ... unsure of size coz my boot is relatively small. Coupled with a decent amp.... maybe something like an LRx1.400.

the air mille's despite being suitable for free-air use too, perform brilliantly in 'tiny' sealed boxes. amazing.

again, phil is the man to help with your choice. if you can afford the air mille, i'd think that would be the way to go, but i haven't auditioned the morel.

i'd be interested to hear what you learn about them from phil, so keep us updated.
