Full Version: I have decided on my front stage

Ok after a couple of months of research i have decided on my 3 way front stage.
Tweeter: Oz Audio Oz19 1" Soft Dome Tweeter
Midrange: Oz Audio 5.25" Oz-Mat130scx
Midbass: Pioneer TS-C1625 6" Powerblade

The beauty of it is the Oz Audio gear is actually contained in a bi-ampable co-incident coaxial hence giving me true point source The pioneer midbass would be my weakness but they thump so hard that i just cant let them go! Anywayz the Pioneers will stay in the door, but i will angle them and the coaxial in the kicks in pods. All will be run off the Pioneer crossover till i get enough money to go fully active with a 4channel. This also gives me the room to upgrade to 8s or another set of 6 mibass when i get more money. Now i just play the waiting game till Oz Audio comes into australia.

Sounds good man . Looks like there might be a wait for the Oz Audio front stage tho.. Same as my Kove subbie .
The plan for your front stage looks remarkably similar to what I've got planned..

- RF Series 1 1" Tweeter
- RF Punch (S1) 3.5" mid
- SoundStream Exact 5.25" woofer

Door pod for the tweeter/woofer, kick-pod for the mid. All driven off a 4 channel amp with a temp passive setup until I can afford an active network.

Great minds

*BTW yes I know the 5" woofer is a bit small but I'm trying something different*

Nice selection. Im sure you wont be disappointed. Oz isn't too far away, so you shouldn't be waiting too long.

Should work pretty nice. it's a concept with a future for sure
The Pioneers might not be the "SQ name" but if they get the job done, why not?

are the Oz Audio drivers actually true 'co-incident' speakers? i don't think they are, the only companies in the world that make them are KEF and Tannoy. Everything else is a point-source coaxial. To be a true co-incident speaker requires the tweeters VC to be phase aligned with the midrange such that the waves from both 'co-incide' at the same arrival point. as i understand is this is pretty much a patented technology.

anyway, im using my Boston Pro's as coaxials and the result is great, so true co-incident isn't a necessity i'm sure you'll recieve some flak for the pioneer mids, but like critter says, judgement must ultimately be passed by the ears so if they fill in the low end to your satisfaction well done

t Bro: I was under the inpression they were, maybe not though? More research to do
Yeh im gonna cop flak over the pioneers but honest to god other than Infinity Beta's these are my favourite midbass, they hit so hard and low and sound very nice. They do lack definition but the Oz's should definatly make up for it.

Shiny: Nope i havent had a chance to audition, however, my subs are the best i have found to date and i wa privliged enough to hear a set of Matrix Splits and wow! The magnet in the midbass was what you would expect from a 8 inch sub and the tweeter is heaven! Its perfect for me, not too bright but loves cymbol notes and has such a beautiful natural sound. Also the success of Oz Audio's top line gear in SQ comps around Australia. Also being different had a bit to do with it as well My goal is all loudspeakers made by Oz, if money stretches it i will be buying some cheaper Oz coaxs for rear fill at the same time.

I will bring Oz Audio intot he Australian SQ scene!!!!!!!!! Thats my goal!
