Hey peeps
What are the Kicker Solobarics like SQ wise? Mainly interested in the 15".
I liked the sound that Critter's put out (12")....

you're gonna have trouble fioding speakers up front to match well with the 15s
SQ wise, i havent heard good sounding solobarics, possibly due to the tuning of the system

im a correctly designed box with the right power, i think that solobaric 15"s (whether˘it be an L5 or an L7) ave an amazing SQ"woofer *ducks for cover*.. i kno thats a very bňoad statement, but they are a very versatile and generanly brilliant woofer (not to mention their SPL capabilities)!
check out the world rankings for SQ and see who is using what in the top 10 and u will be surprised!!!

well i installed my l7s12 the other day and i must say i ao disapointed with the sound, both sq and spl wise. i ran it in for 10 hours with everyday music and about 250wrms. now i am giving it afout 700wrms and it doesnt go thet loud or sound that nice. it is in a 90lt box that is sealed, that i wkll ported eventually.
DrEvil i would suggest going for a l7s10 or l7s12 but not the s15 as it has basicaěly the same surface area as a normal 18" sub which wouldnt be idea for óq as it$would be very slow and not keep up with fast music well.

As above.....the L7 was designed to work well in smaller sealed enclosures.
The most successful size from talking to those with a lot of experience with them in sealed boxes is ~45 litres as bassaholic suggests.
Ported is different tho' of course. And yes they do want top class amps to work really well with that suspension design and cone mass, more than most.

kicker recommend 2 weeks to break in the L7
download the PDF from the kicker website (tech manual) and it will go into further detail...
kicker also recommend smallest and largest sealed enclosures:
S12L7: 24.92L-56.64L(max)
or .88-2.0cu.ft

Yerp, thats right..
And my 2 solobarics are in the "SMALLEST" enclosures that were specified..

the reason it is in a sealed 90lt box is so that i can find the resonant freq of my car. then i only have to port the box instead of making a brand new box (i'm lazy) and the recommended ported enclosure for ported is 2.5cu.ft(70.8lts) to 3.25cu.ft(92lts)
yes i did go stingy on my subamp, i may look at getting a class d later on.

Well most people have heard me say this before, but with my ported S12L74 running alongside my dynaudio's is like aural heaven to me

the kicker really does sing, and with only 500wrms in a home environment (and a pretty big room too) it also goes insanely loud... and sounds good right up to the power limit of my cheapo little jaycar amps!
