as mentioned, in most instances, people still put the woofer in the doors, preferably on angled pods. whilst not perfect, midbass, and to a lesser degree midrange, have good 'off-axis' characteristics. so still create an excellent soundstage/imaging from this position.
midrange speakers and tweets require much less space to perform optimally, and benefit from on-axis installation. and some midranges (like tweets) are sealed (ie: sealed casing around the back of the speaker), so don't require a special enclosure. unsealed mids perform better in an enclosure, so some effort in building one will help; but the losses will be in lower midrange verging on midbass frequencies. so often this loss is not apparent in a 3-way setup where the door woofer takes over. that is, an unsealed midrange can still perform very well, sometimes perfectly adequately, in a less than perfect (in terms of sealing) kickpanel setup.
given midranges and tweets are physically small speakers, the effort to install them may not be great, and well worth the effort IMO.
good luck
