in my room siting next to me:
PPI ART 2x75rms (front stage mid-woofer)
PPI ART 4x50rms (tri-mode rear fill/centre channel)
to be in my room with in a couple of weeks:
Zapco Z400C4-SL With MX1 & MNG 4x50RMS (tweets + mid-range)

i will be looking at getting sub amp by christmas, what would you guys use???
will be driving either 2x a/d/s 312.rs.2(rated at 600rms per sub) or 1 IDMAX (1000rms)

some nice components there including the venerable art series.

my concern is what power/amp you plan to run the subs from? something new or the 2 remaining channels of the art series? for, even as underrated as it may be and gutsy, you're considering BIG subs there. so they would warrant a dedicated phat subamp.

icebreaker's IDMAX12 performs very nicely off his PPI powerclass amp, but so it should with a rating of 1x1400WRMS into 4ohm. i haven't heard the a/d/s subs, but their power ratings also demand a big amp.

SQ...definitely ain't cheap.

the rear/centre channel setup looks interesting. there may be some minor issues of setting things up for a nice volume balance between fr/rr/centre. sure, you could use the fader to adjust the centre channel volume, but that would also alter the rearfill output. if you were to buy a 4th amp (subamp), then the 4-channel art series would have free channels to dedicate to the centre speaker.

good luck

the PPI ARt 4x50 is will/maybe in tri mode 2 (2x50)channels for rear fill and the remaining bridged channels for the centre channel, rear fill is only for when passengers are riding.
i need surrgestions for sub amp(s)
and if anyone can see any weak points in where i have allocated those amps.
looking a signat dig1 1275RMS.
is one for sale, so might have all my amps with in a month, then the long running round to listen to speakers, then nutting out the install.
hey shiny, been collecting gear for my system now for 5 months, i still have to get speaker and then install.... hey i might even beat you in the 'install saga' area.
cheers dave

aaaaaah! i misinterpreted this as meaning "tri-mode"!

sorry to be pedantic, but traditionally, 'tri-mode' means to run 3 speakers from 2 channels: in your situation, i thought you meant rears off ch.1/2 per normal, and the centre channel bridged across these SAME channels. although the typical tri-mode ran splits and a sub off 2-channels, with passive xovers for each.

and i would describe your proposed set up as 3-channel mode. see how pedantic i can be.

hee, hee, so it makes more sense now (and my initial comments make no sense to you). as does the additional subamp. and it all looks good.

your only potential problem will be getting sufficient power to all the amps. so probably need at least 2awg if not 0awg main powerwire.

pffffffffft. and you may too. oh well, i will have stage I completed in time for FB. then i expect another 2~6 months to have it ALL done as planned, and as good as i would ever want...maybe.

jesus christ thats alot of amps..

i'm still not sure the centre channel would work that well..

give it a try..

i would be more inclined to use the ART 4 x50 in brigded mode to drive your midbass drivers..

what speakers you running ?

hope you're happy with the ARTs..

i replaced the arts with a RF amp in my GFs car.. the rf sounds alot more aggressive than the ART, however it doesn't worry her
