How much difference in Sound Quality is there between the two different sets of 6 1/2" Jaycar splits?
They both sound so very different.
The XL splits have either crossovers with 6db octave or 12db on the woofer only. The Kevlars have full 12db crossovers.
The XL and Kevlars have similar bass output, though i didn't turn either up loud until distortion.
The mid range on the Kevlars are far more louder, possibly too loud, The tweeters of the kevlars have a warmer sound, this could be because of the midrange.
The Xl's have as what my dad calls a "hifi sound". The tweeter on the XL is slightly brighter. It plays the very high treble quite clear, but at loud volumes that could get tiring.
Side by side they sound so different. Yet if you listedn to just one you'd think they sound great.
After i heard the XL splits i was going to buy a pair at advance for $89 but now my budget is a little greater im looking for something better.
If your running off the headunit or a small 30wrms amp the XL's would be perfect, for $89 you cant top them. If you have a bigger amp or a slightly greater budget i'd look at getting th Hertz ESK165's
The XL's are definitly teh best value for money speakers around, even more so for $89. Just like the venom subs, great value!

I'm running 50wrms through each channel, by the way you're talking I gather the cheaper of the pair is better value for money?

Going to the XL splits wont be a gigantic leap from your current fronts, but they should be better.
Personally if your fronts still run i'd keep them for now until your budget can go a little higher.
If you were upgrading from stock speakers then the XL's would provide a good and noticeable difference.
So i'd save up a tiny bit more, and get some ESK165's. They'll be noticably better than the XL's and a big leap from what you have now. Plus if you get the Hertz splits u probably will never upgrade them, unless of course you go all out on a $4000 system.

Thanks for your help, I'd say I wont replace the front splits for the time being then Just gotta find some replacement trim, & move the speakers to some door pods for better positioning.
