Alright all
I just went down to JB and finally got to listen to the new Cadence gear, crosstested the MB Quart 6.5" and the Cadence 6" 2way splits, and i cant decide.
My brain says that the Cadences are clearer, but that the MBs are richer.
Damn musicians ears.

If by clearer you mean brighter/more top end, then if you plan playing loud for extended periods (this IS CAA, and we do that here ) then my thoughts are that if you can't really decide then go for the "warmer" sound.
Will probably be less tiring on your ears.
were they driven off the same amp etc etc etc demo boards arn't always the best. If possible try and get a listern in a car most shops usally have a car that they r installing the same splits in and can have a listern. I would go the MBs as i have the DSD 216s in my daily driver and love em. they have taken a bashing read kicked, one side has rusted due to the leaky ford door etc and keep on kicking pretty good.
you definatly dont want a fatiguing sound for long drives, or even for half an hour of music. you'll regret it in the long run even though it sounds clearer and brighter in the short term.
but as they've said have a listen in someones car!

whilst everyone will tell you to let your own ears decide what's best, both critter and krase make very valid points: listening fatigue and a poor shop listening environment!
unfortunately i've never considered jb hifi's to be the ideal place to audition stuff coz of the high ambient noise.
but if it's down to those 2 splits, have another listen. take along your favourite music to play and ensure the amp they're running will be similar to what you might have/use.
good luck

keep the brand out of it, close your eyes and dont get them to tell you what you are listening to and then chose your favourite soudnign one. It will eliminate all bias in your mind and to quote mr punky "allow you to listen to whats watt"

Are Cadence marketed as SQ?? I personally like the sound of MB Quart but as Slain pointed out if you do a blindfold comparison you will be surprised which brands you will pick over others. Most important point highlighted so far is that you will be listening to them so make sure you audition in a car.
Good luck...

IMO the cadence splits sound quite good for the price, especially the midbass, but the tweets are far too bright for my ears... I've never owned a pair of splits with aluminium tweets because I can't handle listening to them at high volumes for any length of time.
The MBquarts are very well reputed, and in the past I have been impressed with their sound, but still a bit bright for me. If it came down to a pick between the two though, I'd go for the MB's.
my 2 cents
I think there are too many variable to do a blind test at a shop. Firstly the shop speakers wont sound much like the will in a car, and who knows what amp/hu they're running off.
secondly if you hear it in someones car it'll be totally different in yours as they might have a good hu/amp combo going etc.
thats why I think you have to somewhat rely on brand in terms of reputation and type of sound. like the generalisations about focal tweets being bright, morels being natural etc. etc.

I find it impossible to audition anything in a showroom, it's just too hard. You have music in the background, the salesman playing with the HU and volume, people bumping into you etc. The best thing to do is audition in a car, regardless if it is the same as yours or different. At the end of the day, you want to get a basic feel/listen at what the speakers are really capable of. If you're still not convinced, don't buy them. Simple.

That's true to an extent, but if you tell someone that Focal's generally tend to be brighter of course when they listen back-to-back with Morel's they will believe it. I've listened to two systems where both have been Dynaudio and one still sounded significantly brighter than the other (both small cars). I've also heard many Morel systems and found some brighter while others didn't sound as good as Dyn's. You need to listen with your ears not with someone else's.

OK THIS IS NOT A BRAND PLUG!
A guy walk in to a Melb shop where I was in seeing the owner, the owner asked me to help out serving when this guy walked in and wanted to hear a set of Focal's, I suggested he also try the Morels as they were in the same league.
He listened to two or three tracks and said "Nope, I want Focals"
I said fine, here is how to change tracks, this how to change speakers I'll be back in a sec.
Came back and said "Right 1 set of Focals coming up" The customer blew me away when he said NO I'll take the Morels instead!
I ask why and he said that on track 1, 6, 11, and 21 (for example) the Focals were clear winners, but on the rest which was most of the other stuff he listened to, the Morels were shining through!
MY POINT
Listen to a wide variety of music that you regularly listen to, USE the SAME amp and the SAME H/U, then, and only then, make your choice. You may be supprised.
But if you want a real supprise, as someone said close your eyes and let your ears do the work, you are this way more likely to get what you really like rather than getting a speaker because it has OOOH AAAH brand appeal!
You may even save some money too!
BTW there are no Morel speakers left (unless your after 4" coax or splits) so this is definatly not a plug!
Tough call! Glad its you and not me!
